4/9/25 We continue to love Brixx and most of the staff. So far this year our servers have been Leanne, Max, Abbie, and even Grace while she was home from school. Each of them has been wonderful. Tonight, we had a wonderful dinner and time. Max was just outstanding!! Remembered our drinks and favorite pizza before we could. Kept the drinks refilled without us having to ask. He is a great young man and really takes care of his customers. He was very busy but took time to speak with us and catch up. Thanks, Max, for making it another pleasurable experience!!! Of course, the Pizza was wonderful. The guys preparing the various dishes do a great job each and every time. Thank You.
UPDATE 11/7/2024 It has been one week since we had such atrocious service from our server "Tom". See below. Tonight we went back again as Brixx Blakeney is still our favorite restaurant. We asked for an got Leanne as our server. And as usual she Exceeded All Expectations. Drinks were plentiful, Pizza was hot and tasty, and her service could not have been better. Even though she was very busy, she took time to make sure we had everything we needed for a great Pizza experience. My only question which I guess is none of my business is why is Tom still there. Tonight he was just walking around in circles or standing around. Leanne and Scott (another great server) were almost running. Tom was just there. I watched him serve another booth. He was there three times: Take order, bring drinks, bring and take bill on his little electronic device. That is not service. But as long as we never have him again, that is Brixx business. Thank You Leanne for such a great dining experience. You are the best. Scott is also great as is Max.
UPDATE 10/31/2024 It has been about a month since we were last there. We have always loved Brixx Blakeney. But since we were there last time they have hired a new server (Tom). After we had been seated for a good while (restaurant was far from full) Tom came over. He took our drink order and brought them. Then he left and we did not see him again for over 10 minutes. During this time we were speaking with the other servers we have known for years. Leann stopped to talk a minute as she is a friend and our favorite server. When I asked could she not swap with Tom she just shook her head no. Tom was ignoring us. Leann had to move on to her tables and Tom finally came back to take our order. It is BOGO day due to the Hornets. So I told him. He said I had to show him something on the ap or email. So I did, even though no one had ever asked for this in years. Again, no one showed up for a long time. Finally the pizzas came out. My wifes Pizza was so cold the cheese had hardened. Tom was no where to be seen. So finally I took the pizza to the counter myself. I asked the young man who was helping put the plates and boxes together to ask the cooks to heat it up. He quickly did. And he did a great job and made sure the pizza came back very quickly. Good for him. Tom? No where to be seen. After another 10 or so minutes Tom just walked up and took our drink glasses and refilled them. Then he was gone again. No sign until he came back with the bill. No BOGO was on it. I asked again. He said for me to show him proof I was entitled to this (again) so I did. He disappeared again. Then came back with an adjusted bill. This time he pulled out the little machine some of the waiters used to use to charge at the table. And rather than me being able to leave the tip I wanted, it had 3 choices that I could see. 25% 20% or 15%. Maybe there was an option for 0% but I did not see it. So I was forced to give 15% for very very poor service. I would have rather given the young man at the counter some money because he was the only person that help us. So service was awful. My pizza was still luke warm so I ate it. But it was very chewy and not very tasty. Very disappointing for my favorite restaurant in Charlotte (see review above) I hate leaving poor reviews but feel I must be truthful in my disappointment. Food: 3/5 | Service: 1/5 | ...
Read moreMe and three of my friends decided to dine in at The Brixx at Blakeney location on Saturday, 6/8 and it was not what one would expect at this location. First off, understandably so, the female bathroom was closed due to the company replacing the tile, so everyone had to use the men's bathroom and the door was to be one occupant and locked. No big deal. What we had a problem with, was the fact that the bathroom was so dirty. Toilet paper on the floor and the trash can overflowed. There's only one bathroom to clean up. We would expect it to be a little tidier. The biggest issue we had was with the appetizer we ordered. We ordered the Hummus trio. When the dish came out, we noticed that the ramekin that had the roasted red pepper hummus, had a straw wrapper affixed inside the ramekin. I have worked in the food industry. I understand that when the busser cleans the table, they throw all trash in the dishes, dump the trash in the trash can, and then proceed to put the dishes to be washed and streamed. This is obviously what happened to this ramekin, so in essence, the ramekin is dirty. When we told our server that we wanted a new red pepper hummus, because there was a straw wrapper in the ramekin, she took the ramekin and soon came back with a “new” one. The “new” hummus that we received had no straw wrapper in it, but there was an indentation in the hummus and remnants of hummus alongside the outside of the ramekin, which looked as though someone had simply taken their finger to remove the straw paper and present it to us as if it was new. With that, we paid for the hummus and left. I cannot believe that any establishment would do so little to rectify an issue. I do not feel that scooping hummus in a new ramekin was too much to ask for. Never again will we patronize this...
Read moreHORRIBLE EXPERIENCE: Today my family and I were planning to attend the Blakeney-Brixx location. I went in ahead of my family to get a table while I waited on them. I went to the waiting area to be seated. I waited by the hostess stand for 7 minutes, no one came over. 5 minutes into my wait, the bartender came to the bar, made eye contact with me and checked on those at the bar and walked away. I assumed she went to get the hostess, so I did not bother her due to assuming it was someone else’s job to seat me.
After the 7-minute wait, a WHITE family of 3 (middle aged man, little girl, older lady) walked in and were diagonal, slightly behind me (the older lady sat, while the man and child stood). They waited for about 1 minute. The same bartender that I saw previously, walked over to them and said, “Hey! Y’all have a party of 3?” The older lady looked at me as the hostess grabbed the menus and told her to follow them. I assumed the lady looked at me as if she noticed the same as I did, which was that I had already been sitting there and IGNORED. The bartender walked them to the table and returned to walk over behind me. She DID NOT come back to address me.
At this point I was furious inside yet remained calm. So, I stood closer to the hostess stand. The bartender then walked back behind the bar, took someone’s order, she made eye contact with me and smiled and then continued to make the drink.
I decided to leave before the attitude that was brewing inside of me came out. THIS IS VERY UNACCEPTABLE. The issue was obviously race, and I will make sure that my family or those that I know NEVER come to this establishment if that’s how those of COLOR will be treated.
My family and I decided to go to Burton’s restaurant around the corner where we received amazing...
