This is an update of an earlier review I did back in August when our family dinner didn't go well. Since then a few things happened that have made me and my family very happy:
Not everything goes as planned. And that's ok. Stuff happens. But it's how one responds that defines their character. Their GM hit a challenge (that'd be me) head-on and didn't blink. He accepted the criticism, vowed to take action, and was a man of his word. Thanks to their GM and entire staff for a fantastic dinner for my family.
(btw, my original post is below)
I took my family of 6 to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday and from my perspective, way too many things went wrong. At Burtons price point, I have higher expectations than they deliver. My son's $47 ribeye steak dinner was not good. While he had no complaints about the steak, the broccoli tasted like it was doused with a chemical and the mashed potatoes were cold. I actually took the time to taste his broccoli and agreed, it was inedible. We told management and they brought him another side dish. But the taste of that broccoli was so odd, that I'm wondering what they did to it. Next, my daughter-in-law ordered the steak frites medium rare and it came well done. That's the 2nd time she's ordered it and the 2nd time it's been over cooked. She was going to eat but I wouldn't allow that so again, we called management over. They took her plate and cooked her another steak. But that took almost 15 MINUTES and she had nothing to eat. By the time her meal came back, we were all done eating so she picked at it and then had it boxed up. Family celebration dinner ruined. The obvious thing to do is comp her meal, which they did (thanks), but I still paid $420 for a so-so meal. If it wasn't my daughter's birthday, I would have gone off on management, but I figured that would only make a bad dinner even worse so I but my tongue. My son and I agreed that Burtons is not a place we'll go to again. Oh and i should mention that I've been to Burtons approximately 12 times, 11 of them at their Park Road location. This visit was to the Blakeney location. So I guess my overall feedback is to stick with their bowls because they didn't get...

What a whirlwind of a journey our dining experience at Burton's Steakhouse has been! It all began with a disappointing visit to the Burton's in Mt. Pleasant, SC, which left us questioning whether the name "Burton's" was synonymous with mediocrity. However, fate had a different plan for us when we decided to give Burton's another shot, this time at the Blakeney location in Charlotte, NC.
From the moment we stepped into Burton's Steakhouse in Blakeney, it was clear that this was going to be an entirely different adventure. The modern appeal of the restaurant, paired with the aroma of sizzling goodness, set the stage for a memorable evening. Gone were the memories of our previous encounter; we were ready to embrace a fresh experience.
The transformation was truly remarkable. As we settled into our cozy booth, the atmosphere exuded an air of sophistication and comfort. Our past disappointment seemed miles away as we delved into the menu, intrigued by the tantalizing options that lay before us.
Our choices were seemingly simple - my fiancé opted for the barbecue chicken salad, a masterpiece adorned with eggs, bacon, and a medley of incredible toppings. I, on the other hand, chose the classic steakburger and fries. While the entrees were straightforward, the execution was nothing short of exceptional. The flavors burst forth in a symphony of delight, each bite more satisfying than the last.
As we savored our meals, the attentive service of our waitress, Kacey, was a true highlight of the evening. Her infectious smile and attentive demeanor elevated our experience, making us feel genuinely cared for. It's these personal touches that truly define exceptional service and elevate a dining experience to a higher level.
While the memories of our past disappointment lingered, Burton's Steakhouse in Blakeney effortlessly shattered those perceptions. The thought of ordering a steak crossed our minds, but we hesitated, still haunted by our previous misadventure. It's reassuring to know that our apprehension was met with a resolution - to enjoy the incredible steak burgers and the other, more affordable, protein options.
In conclusion, Burton's Steakhouse in Blakeney has redeemed itself in a spectacular fashion. Our initial skepticism was replaced by awe and admiration for the transformation we witnessed. With its modern ambiance, top-notch service, and delectable offerings, Burton's in Blakeney earns a solid 10/10 rating from us. We wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try, savoring the simpler but exceptional choices that make this establishment shine. Cheers to Burton's for reminding us that a change of location can lead to an entirely new and delightful...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. First of all, overpriced for the location. If I am spending $40 for a steak, I am looking for one, if not more of the following, incredible taste, fantastic service and fabulous atmosphere. Burtons provided none. The only reason they are getting 2 stars is that our server and one of the managers at least tried. The whole place is really set up for more of a 20s-something bar and grill with rollup garage doors, etc. This is a very small location (not Burtons fault), but in an effort to squeeze tables in, one table is lucky enough to be both right at the front door and right next to the bar area. Yes, that was our table, so from the start, it is going to be tough as two of the 4 members of our party had to wear our coats because every time the door opened, we got a nice blast of cold air. The cauliflower appetizer was good, but $14 for a fried vegetable and it should be amazing. Now comes the true fail. They actually have a pretty limited menu, which you would think would play in their favor, so I ordered the Maxx Burger. I know, I know, $16 for a burger and fries, I should know better, but I also added the mushrooms and bacon, so it was more like $18. I asked our server what their definition of "medium" was, and she said a cool pink center. That is borderline for me, as I prefer it on the medium-rare side, but if they could have brought it out on their medium, I should be OK. Yeah, no. Strangely, the one option of the 4 meals that was temperature dependent came out last. In this case, I'd say it sat too long after it was off the grill. Our server was very apologetic and said she would get a new burger on the way. Having worked in the industry as both a server and a manager, that should mean it gets priority on the grill, and someone babysits the order, especially given it was not terribly busy. After everyone else at our table finished their dinners, my second burger came out. The manager who dropped it off, didn't even stay to see if it was OK. By the time I had cut into it, figuring he would have stayed and did need me biting into it, he was gone. Really? Isn't your job as manager to try to ensure the patrons have as good experience as possible? The another manager did come back after our server had to apologize again, and to his credit didn't try to to give an excuse, just said it did not meet their standards and would take care of it. The one bright spot? The bacon! It was spot on, not too hard, and not too floppy. Otherwise, the taste on the burger was a B, maybe B+. With so many options in the Stonecrest/Blakeney/Waverly/Rea Farms area, Burtons did not distinguish themselves...
