This place was a really nice find in this area where pho seems to be really popular. In comparison of the other spots nearby is a clear new #2 for me behind Saigon Palace. Another pho lover ate here with me and it wasn't up to par but he's super biased about Saigon Palace. It's funny but you can tell there is a difference of style in how they cook their broth. A really rich and full flavor with a saltier seasoning. It's not overdone nor is it generic. My only issue is the price. Probably my only real bias is the cost. An extra large after tax is over $15 and as usual it wasn't really extra large (then again I have a huge appetite). This place is highly recommended. The lady that owns the shop is super friendly and the restaurant is elegantly clean and modern. Don't be fooled, their taste palates are authentic!

Stopped here to get some Vietnamese food after returning from Iceland via New York. Pho (dac biet) was very good, portion was large, price very reasonable. Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef udon) was good, wish the had pigs feet or blood cubes. The fried tofu & summer rolls (goi cuon) were just ok, wish they add some fresh herbs in the rolls. Place was busy. Service was quick, but I did have to flag down our server. Iced milk coffee was great, strong & sweet. 4.5 is a fair score for this place. Very extensive menu, would like to return & try other items - 2.5 hrs drive for us from Augusta, GA.

I came here for a Yelp International Supper Club event so we got a family style meal. Our meal consisted of spring rolls, summer rolls, a yellow pancake, chicken curry, and a vermicelli bowl. My favorite thing was the yellow pancake! The flavor and texture was great. Everything was really good, I feel like you can't go wrong. Vermicelli bowls are always one of my favorites. The service was outstanding. Everyone was very friendly and they were fast and always refilling drinks. I definitely think this spot is worth checking out for some good Vietnamese food.

If you're new and have never been here before expect to have bad or cold shoulder service, the food is good though. In addition I believe there's probably only one or two servers, everyone works together doing every job so food can be kinda slow getting out but it's worth it. I've been here twice, My first time was by myself and service was... Well just food brought to me and basically the guy sat down to eat his food too it just talked rudely when speaking with me, my wife and I always tip $20 either way... But if somebody is not offering any actual service, why bother. Tipped 10 instead out of first time courtesy. The second time I came in I brought my wife since the food was so good. I'm white and she is black, another couple had been sat after us which was a white man with an Asian woman... My wife just assumed that they're racist because she's black, and the couple that came in after us was served with their drinks and I believe even given choice first of placing order... I explained that we are new customers and they probably come in often so the situation would've been different if they knew us, on this second time occasion(first time bringing my wife), the food was good and service was yet again bare. No one ever checked on us, only food delivered. Tipped $10 again instead of $20 out of pity. My assumption at this point is that the people who serve here may not even get tips, due to how they act and you may wonder if they treat parties with black people differently or wrong... No, they do not, I've seen them treat everyone differently in many scenarios in my two visits but that may only be because they are with another Asian when they're treated how a normal person at a restaurant should be, and ohhh yes they have favorites, yet as I said I don't think that they get the tip on card, maybe... At least maybe not having the tip cashed out the same day. I personally don't find it that big of a deal because if I'm getting no service and only the food given to me. I believe my future visits I'll just move forward with not tipping. Tipping a server is only something people should do when service is given. Dropping food at the table is a requirement, not a service just like handing to-go food to a customer is a requirement. If people believe that somebody should tip just because the person exists at the job, that's perfect I'm glad for you. Personally, I used to be a server and I worked very hard and got lots of tips it's a very lucrative business and this is why I tip all the time but only if the person deserved it... I give each person a chance, once. The first tip is courtesy, if the service is bad the second time, again... Well, you get what you put in. So at this point the food is good. I hate the service, and the atmosphere is average for what I'm used too. I would say my wife and I are upper class, both very respectful and kind. We are the type of people if we don't like the food we will just remain quiet, pay, leave the food, tip the server and never go back to the restaurant again. Well the food is actually tasteful with more options than most places, but there's also Thai restaurants with lower prices, same quality food with way better service, I wouldn't want to say that the servers here would treat people differently if they're interracial couples that's black and white... But it wouldn't be the first especially since the silly "Woke" stuff. But my wife thinking they're racist right off as a First impressions, and I myself have experienced the servers to come off rudely in both times.. Added that only other Asian people or groups with Asians being treated with actual respect. Not...

Best Vietnamese in Charlotte for vegetarians and vegans we have tried thus far. Menu wise, there is a clear section for vegetarian which most are naturally vegan with the others easily modifiable to vegan. Not sure if we just had the best server ever, but he was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the food and food safety. For example, we asked if the spring/egg rolls were fried in the same fryer as meat, he clearly stated there were two sides to the fryer: one for the meat and one for the veggie stuff. I kid you not, this is literally the first restaurant in Charlotte that separates their fryers. I am telling you, even $20+ per plate restaurants will tell me they fry their french fries with chicken fingers.

Also, we tried three appetizers and three entrees, all were very good. Lots of flavour (another thing we find rarely in Charlotte) and they even have vegan PHO! They call it "Veggie Noodle Soup" to not confuse people with the beef bone broth. The server even went to great lengths to describe that they had beef, chicken, and veggie broth, so we knew we were in good hands. I shall say that it is the second best vegan pho we've had here in Charlotte, but the sheer volume of options is amazing.

The decor is nothing too special, but it was clean and not very loud in there. Parking was acceptable and easy to get to the restaurant.

I would give Doan's a 4.5 star rating if I could. I really try to reserve 5 star ratings to restaurants I would place in my top restaurants nationwide. Again, for Charlotte, Doan's is a 5 all the way, but comparing it to the many other restaurants nationwide, I would give it just under that. Ways to improve, to push to a 5: 1. Clearly delineate what items are vegan on the menu. 2. have more options for veggies. 3. slightly larger portion sizes or larger portion sizes + higher prices for those of us who really like...

The restaurant situated on the South Blvd is an easy access to the residents of South Charlotte. Stepping inside this, you feel a little claustrophobic as it's smaller than it looks on the outside and more like a train carriage! The menu was a big 6 page menu offering many Vietnamese Delicacies. The staff was quick to come up to our table and he was super fast in spite of handling multiple tables. The food didn't even take long to reach our tables.

The chicken curry vermicelli was the best with a thick coconut based curry/gravy. The fried rice was okay but not the best and the stir fry was a let down- it had way more salt and the vegetables seemed blanched and nothing great about it. Above all the quantity of the dishes was a huge let down and if you are big person, don't even think about having a fulfilling dinner here!

Been tried this restaurant for the first time, I didn't want to try it again - some of the dishes were good and some really bad and quantity...
