On 5/26/17 about 7:20 p.m. I was racially discriminated against for the second time by a manager named Luis. The cashier called him for assistance and when he appeared, he looked at me suspicious. I handed him my license, my ebt #, and my ebt card that was damaged. I even offered to go online, using my phone to show him my ebt account information. Luis then looked at my card's information and stated that Food Lion doesn't manually do ebt anymore. I was shocked because I have been coming to this store well over 2 years with no problems. The only problems I would have is leaving my card at home by accident and then Fatima would not allow me to purchase any groceries unless I have my card with me. I informed Luis that this is not a scam or fraudulent activities. This is my ebt card and I have all the information that he need even online proof. That's when Luis began to act unprofessional by trying to avoid my proof as if I'm lying and not accepting the fact that the other managers allow me to make purchases. I had a shopping cart half full of groceries for my 4 children. Luis said sorry, he couldn't do it and that he's trying to protect his customers. I was offended by his remarks because I am a MVP customer cardholder. Then I replied that I am a customer. Luis shook his head no. Then I was embarrassed. Luis painted a picture to the waiting clueless customers that were behind me that I was a fraudulent thief trying to use someone else information. That pissed me off so bad that I began sweating. I asked Luis who was the overall manger. He said sarcastically that he was. I knew that he was lying again, so I laughed because I couldn't believe how I was being treated and I'm a regular. I asked Luis one more time who is his boss. Then Luis said with an attitude Jamie before storming off. I was left puzzled, unassisted with a feeling of disgust. I apologized to the cashier for the delay, disturbance, and her unprofessional manager. A familiar store stocker asked me what was going on. I told him how I was just violated my Luis. Then the store worker told me that wasn't right and I need to speak with Jamie. On my way out the door the store security guard told me that was messed up how I was treated because I am a regular and I'm a cool person. Then the older security guard told me to get in touch with Jamie too. After I left my favorite store I drove to my second favorite Food Lion to see if Luis was right about the company switching policies. Luis was wrong. The other Food Lion allowed me to purchase the same groceries with my exact information that I presented to Luis with no problem or hassle. I still have my receipt from that horrific evening. All I was trying to do was the right thing the entire time. No false information, nothing fraudulent, proof of ownership, and that still wasn't good...
Read moreGrowing more disappointed with each and every infrequent trip that I have made to Food Lion here lately and for some time now. Advertised as your hometown discount grocery store, this is one of the most misleading misnomers in advertisement that I read on a weekly basis in the circulars that are delivered to my house. And the receipts that you are given, that show how much you "saved" either this trip, or so far this year would be almost outrageous if you compared the pricing and totals with "real" discount grocery stores. I gather that you could consider their prices as discounted if you were to compare them to the extremely overpriced grocery stores, which is pretty much self-explanatory. Pictures to follow: but I ran into one of the many Food Lions that dot Mecklenburg county and was looking for a bundle of mint, or enough to use for cocktails perhaps and some healthier meals. The only available options at any/all Food Lions for fresh spices; such as thyme, basil, oregano, mint etc;. You get the idea are these rectangular plastic packages, with usually one single sprig inside that cost upwards of 2$ and more apiece...for a single sprig in most cases. Advertised as organic, they should be ashamed of themselves. Organic, by definition, is grown naturally, without harmful chemicals and pesticides used in the growing process. Since this is the largest majority of the cost in mass-produced vegetables. There is ABSOLUTELY no sound or logical explanation or reason why they are charging over 2$+ for single sprigs of fresh spices and herbs in plastic containers, whenever I can shop elsewhere and buy a beautiful bundle for 2.99$ or less. The staff members are consistently the same friendly and personable employees as always. The stores are exceptionally clean and well-maintained. And are all handicap accessible. But...let's be honest. You are and have not been, for some time now; a discount grocery chain. For the shoppers out there, buyer beware, do your due diligence. Read moreWhat a disgusting experience with this store and there current new manger. I went to store with my disabled daughter and was treated as if we were stealing. I I when in for crab legs there where on sale. The cooler had two old looking bags so I ask the one that was over by the meat to bring some other immediately said it's only two bags per customer and I said thank you for providing me with that information. I would like two other bags besides these old bags that been sent in here. The crab legs were all discolored and freezer burnt. He came out with two other bags and I asked him can he replace the two bags that I had with another two bags? There was a four limit to the crab legs and I guess they were under crab leg patrol making sure customers don't go over the floor limit count. It was just a horrible experience from the time I walked in up until the time I left. By the time we got to the register I had two shopping carts full of food and cleaning supplies. I was surrounded by employees and even security who watch me check myself out another experience. Anything like this from a food Lion? I normally have great experience and because of my disabled daughter, I was even offered at one time for them to take care of the groceries for me based off another experience, this store really lay me down and I probably would never come back here to shop and I will hope that corporate looks into Management to avoid these types of situations from happening in the future. There was another manager there she was very nice. Not too sure she was African or Nigerian but very nice lady. It was sad to hear that she left and was...
