Don Tequilas — Restaurant in Charlotte

Delicious food, fantastic service! We came here as a last minute change because the restaurant that we were originally trying to go to, closed 2 hours early without warning, and Don Tequillas was just the next town over. We arrived, with 2 kids and 2 adults, about a half an hour before they closed and asked if we had time to get a quick bite. The staff said absolutely and were welcoming and friendly, made excellent food suggestions, and were on top of things. Food came out quick and was delicious (I got fajitas and can honestly say they were the best I've EVER had!) We ate quickly to be mindful of it being close to closing time but the staff did not try to rush us even though we were the only customers there. 1st time: food was tasty but I was sick afterwards. 2nd time: tried again, ate the nachos and again I was sick! Heard it was shut down from the health department. Local people said it was yummy after they reopened so I gave them yet another try. The 3rd time: Wish I didn't! I had red waxy paper in my refried beans! Not just a few pieces but several pieces and a few big chunks of this mystery red waxy paper! Completely disgusted!

As if the ordering process isn't hard enough with the employees who don't speak any English and need you to point to the menu to understand what you're wanting to order, getting miscellaneous non food items inside your food is absolutely unacceptable!

The place is very nicely decorated and has a fun atmosphere. I love all the colors! The service is very quick, byt English is the second language for most of them so knowing spanish helps. I asked what he recommended I have and he just looked at me funny and then pointed at the menu. Anyways, I am pretty sure that their focus is not communication. It is actually serving good food. Based off the reviews I read. The strawberry dackery did not have a lot of flavor to it period and neither did the banana drink period. The chips and sauce are were just okay… I really enjoyed the burrito that looked like a Mexican flag. I highly recommend the fried ice cream. It's the best...
