Dubai Grills, a newcomer to the culinary scene, recently opened its doors and I decided to seize the opportunity during their grand opening promotion offering a 15% discount. However, while the promise of a discounted meal was enticing, my overall experience left much to be desired.
Upon entering, I couldn't help but notice that the restaurant had a somewhat dated and uninspiring ambiance. It lacked the freshness and excitement typically associated with grand openings. Perhaps it was because I opted for takeout, but I couldn't help but wonder if the dine-in experience would be any different. My first impression was further dampened by the initial service encounter. It took about two minutes of me browsing the menu displayed on the screens before I was acknowledged. The staff member who eventually approached the counter seemed indifferent, offering no enthusiastic welcome or recommendations from the menu. During a grand opening, I had expected a more welcoming and energetic experience, but instead, I felt like an intrusion in an empty restaurant.
For my order, I chose lamb over rice, a dish I'm familiar with from Halal street carts in New York City. Unfortunately, despite the generous size of the takeout container, I found the meal portion to be somewhat lacking. The lamb over rice was tasty, but the rice itself was overly moist and oily. It's possible that this was due to the addition of the meat and sauces, but it was challenging to discern the exact cause. I had also requested hot sauce with my order, but what I received was more akin to Buffalo wing sauce rather than the deep, spicy flavors I'm accustomed to at other similar establishments. Surprisingly, the sauce did manage to enhance the overall flavor of the dish, but it was not what I had anticipated.
In the end, Dubai Grills gets a 3 out of 5 from me, and that's primarily because I received a discount on my meal. Had I paid the regular price, I would have rated them lower. While there's potential for improvement over time, I currently see no compelling reason to return to Dubai Grills. With some enhancements in service quality, ambiance, and consistency in the flavors they offer, this restaurant could elevate its dining experience and attract more patrons. For now, it falls short of being a memorable dining...
Read moreThey gave me all drums I’m guessing because they had too many and wanted to throw them off on someone and all the chicken looked very old as you can see the brown spots in them that is very slimy when you touch it. I ordered buffalo sauce and there is only a spec of sauce. The fries were so hard they weren’t even edible they sold me very old food !! They use to be good but last few times have been very bad experiences and this is unacceptable ! And make sure you order directly through them if not do they will do you any kind of way and then tell you there is nothing they can do you have to call DoorDash or whatever third party you made your order with. I will never order from here again I wouldn’t serve...
Read moreIn the mood for some baklava, I googled places that deliver with baklava nearby and found this one.
The reviews were not optimistic but decided to roll my odds for a good baklava.
So what's my take away on it?
Sadly, the baklava is very mid. It's just ok, far from the worst ive had though, definitely not the best.
HOWEVER, pleasantly surprised by how good the fries and chicken parm was. Expect a bit of an unconventional taste for the chicken parm, not quite authetic obviously. It tastes very much like "chicken parm but made by an indian" if that makes sense, but it's warm and tasty and cheese is always good. And the fries are just genuinely good. A thumbs up from me, though I probably...
