Well, the manager (tall guy, red hair) was rude (tone of voice, & cut me off while I was asking a question about the wait list), so we didn’t spend our money to eat here. Before being put on the wait list, he said there was a strict mask requirement, which is fine, and there are signs that say this. So whatever. Anyway, it’s 35 cents to purchase one. Okay. It's a 35 minute wait. Okay. So I said, "You're good, never mind." He literally shrugged his shoulders and said, "okay," and walked off. Now, this could have had a totally different outcome with a , "Hey ma'am! How are you?! Thank you so much for choosing to eat here. How many people do you have? There's a 35 minute wait for 2 people. Do have a mask to wear? I have a strict mask policy, and if you don't have one, I offer masks for 35 cents per mask." Instead, I couldn't even ask a question because I didn't have on a mask. I was just interrupted with hostility, and it seemed like I was aggravating him. Here’s the part that was strange- Literally, a man walked past the manager and me without one on, and he said nothing. Perhaps he didn’t notice. Then, a whole family walked in without masks and he said NOTHING, and they were put on the wait list 🤔. Then, my husband walked in right after me (I stayed in the car), without a mask, he was asked “how many?” and was put on the wait list for a 20 minute wait! I was like WHAT! First, how did you even speak in this restaurant without a mask on, AND how did the wait change from 35 minutes to 20 minutes within a 2 minute time frame. I'm just so shocked that I was treated this way. It feels like discrimination against women. My thing is, I see other bad reviews for customer service, here, and the manager is full of excuses for his poor restaurant service instead of just taking responsibility and making it better. Why are you picking and choosing who wears a mask? Either it's a strict mask policy or it's not. Super disappointed. Anyway, couldn’t try the food because of the service. We went down the street to First Watch and it was AWESOME!! First Watch has GREAT customer service and...
Read moreMy husband and I tried this place Sunday afternoon for brunch. The service was top tier from the time we arrived. We did have to wait 25 mins but that's not out of the ordinary for a Sunday brunch. The food was absolutely delicious. We were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures. We had the waffle with berry compote and whipped cream with a side of sausage, and biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs with cheese and a side of grits. We also had fresh squeezed orange juice and sweet tea. Everything was so flavorful and well seasoned. The food came out really fast after we ordered, and everyone working there worked well together. They told us if you need anything ask anyone and we get it asap. I would give more stars if I could. The only negative thing I have to say about this restaurant is that if you have mobility issues it may be difficult to get into. There's two steps to get into the restaurant and they have seating both upstairs and downstairs. We were seated downstairs and I have issues but we went slow and we made it down. The manager did pull my husband to the side and say that there is a elevator that we could use to get back upstairs and I really appreciated it. It kinda looks like you are walking into a office space to get to the elevator but it's not far. You exit through the front door of another building on to the main street. I have no idea if they would have let us use it before we came down the first time but it doesn't hurt to ask. We ended up parking in the parking garage right next door for convenience, but it looks a little sketchy and run down. It cost us $15 to park for a couple of hours while we ate. We tried to find street parking but didn't have any luck. Overall the food and service were so good that I would definitely go again. They have 3 different locations so we may try one of them to get around the parking issue. My husband said that the food was so good he would be willing to let me out at the door and go park by himself. Can't wait to go again. We went to the...
Read moreWe have been looking for a good breakfast place to go to on weekends. Somewhere that will fill a plate with eggs, hash browns, meats, etc. and leave you money to still have fun for the day. Unfortunately Toast doesn't fit the bill. The location that we went to use to be a bar/restaurant (that I can't remember the name of) and recently opened as Toast. The location is great, with lots of seating both inside and out.
Let me start with the good...The food was very good, and the service was good. The location is in a good spot and if it were a little warmer today we would have sat outside.
The Bad...Toast is WAY overpriced. I ordered one of the specials which was eggs with chorizo sausage, jalapenos, and corn salsa. This comes with one piece of toast, one side like grits or small helping of home fries and cost $11. The orange juice we ordered was $3.50 for a small glass. My wife had 2 eggs over medium (that came runny) and home fries (about 6 potatoes) and it was $10. If you wanted to add meat like 2 pieces of bacon or sausage, it was $3.50.
We are not cheap, and don't mind spending for a good meal, which this was BUT this is breakfast, and you don't want to start your day with a $30 bill for something that is $10 elsewhere.
So other than the extremely overpriced menu items, Toast is a good spot to have breakfast, but be...
