Taco Mama has a cute vibe and very friendly staff. I was even impressed that the cashiers were allowed to sit when customers weren't at the counter. Concrete floors are horrid to stand on for hours on end. The margaritas definitely are strong and good. However the food is a different story. My friends and I came into the city to shop and try a restaurant we dont have at home. We all love tacos, but this just wasnt right. I got the quesadilla barbacoa with cheese. Sour cream, guacamole, saracha slaw and salsa on the side. The cheese was great, but the "barbacoa" had no evidence of any grilling. It had no seasoning and it tasted like an unseasoned pot roast. I expected celery, carrots and potatoes to be in there. That's how much it tasted like pot roast. It was not good. There was no crunchy bits of grilled meat and that's what barbacoa is supposed to be. I did order the guacamole and it was the consistency of a soft spreadable cheese. I dont know what they added to that, but it was gross. I also got a side of street corn. This is one of my favorite foods and I know that it is made different ways. However it was obvious that this was canned corn. The corn was very tough to chew and was unpleasant to have in my mouth. There could have been more cojita cheese on it. And the "sauce" that was in it didnt tast right. It looked like they had mixed the tajin and the mayonnaise together, but im not sure they used mayo though. It was too runny. Now that siracha slaw was the only thing I honestly enjoyed. My friends that i ate with were not impressed either and we didnt eat the majority of our food. Which was a loss. My meal of a quesadilla w/chips, street corn and margarita was $27 !!! Most companies wouldn't even cover that much for a lunch reimbursement if you were traveling in the area! I never should've strayed from my local taco truck. The food came across as very very basic...
Read moreNot dog friendly! Horrible service! Tiny patio! I drove out of my way because so many reviews claimed it was dog friendly. No greeting. A guy picked up some trash and plates off a table and said, "It's all you guys." He didn't even clean it. No one talked to me after that. The same guy went on to ignore me along with the girl waiting tables. She acted like she was afraid of my puppy. As you can see in the pic, he's adorable. He was dehydrated and lying on the hot concrete. I asked her if we could get some water. She ignored me and went to the table next to me that had arrived after I was seated and took their order. I gave her another chance. She sat another table and took their order. I was tired of be treated like I was invisible and was worried for my little guy, so I left. We went to Don Pedro's. They immediately gave him water and tons of love! He pretty much became their mascot 😂 Dog owners don't waste your time with...
Read moreSix of us went last week, ambitious for a Friday night, but we were able to get a table fairly easily. I think we ordered four different meals between us (burrito, chorizo quesadilla, tacos, and I can't remember the fourth) with a variety of sides (queso, guac, mac and cheese) and a pitcher of margaritas. Everyone thought their food was just kind of "eh"...nothing special, and most of it was bland. The quesadilla in particular was all chorizo and barely any cheese. The chips were the kind that break easily (not my fave but to each their own). One girl's tacos took extra long to come out and they gave her two $5 off coupons for a future visit which was very nice and on par with the rest of the friendly service we were getting. When there are so many other good fast casual Mexican options available, I don't think we will go back unless we hear some raves from opinions we trust, but give it a try...
