This is the second time I’ve been to Flight in Charlotte, North Carolina. The first time I went it was right when they opened and it wasn’t the best experience. We ordered a bottle of wine and they charged us an additional $10. They made it right but was strange. Went back last night. It was OK. The one thing I find interesting is they’re called flight, but they do not offer flights of wine. Wasn’t that the whole point of the restaurant? I’m not sure. They have a decent selection of different wines by the glass. I also found it interesting that it’s a wine bar, but the servers had to look at a cheat sheet to describe the wines. On their website, they make it like the servers are very knowledgeable with wine and will steer you in the right direction. Our server was OK. She was very swift and accommodating in the beginning but then disappeared for about 25 minutes even though she was helping the tables on either side of us. Luckily, the salad came out very quickly. My friend and I shared the Spanish Caesar. It was very good. Had great flavor and the dressing was the perfect ratio. We each had a pizza. Mine was fine for Charlotte. I ordered the Salsiccia- Spicy Portuguese Sausage, Red Onion, Sweet Peppers, Mozzarella, Fontina & Red Sauce. The pizza is really for two people. I brought most of it home. I also added Burrata and mushrooms to it. I found it weird the burrata was under all of the toppings. The best part of the meal was the ricotta cheesecake. It was definitely homemade and absolutely delicious. I would go back just for that. It was also pricey. My pizza ended up being $31 with the additions. I also drank a lot of wine and the Pinot Noir was $19 a glass…. I should’ve just gotten the bottle… the space is very inviting and rustic. I highly recommend sitting in the room by the bar. The room on the side is very cold and plain….

I had booked a reservation for 8pm on a Friday for our friends going away dinner. We got there and all the tables were full and the hostess said it should only be a few minutes two tables were about to close out. We said no problem she asked us to stand by the door which was no problem, I’m assuming not to block the servers coming in and out of the outside. At around 8:15 she says that it’s just going to be a few more minutes but there’s a hallway we can stand in and order drink that way we can “enjoy a drink” while we wait, we said no problem. We went to this hallway probably a few moments later they bring us drink menus, a few moments later someone comes by and takes our drink order. At around 8:30 the hostess came and said our table ready . We finally get sat down and our server came brought us water and menus. A bartender came and brought the wine for our friends and our hostess came around and asked if we needed drinks. I politely told her that we were still waiting on our drinks we ordered previously and she went and checked on them. She brought out my friends martini and my jalepeno margarita then the espresso martini. She asked if we had a tab at the bar and we said yes it’s under my boyfriend’s name and said she would get it transferred to the table. No problem at all, when we ordered our shareables the one couple got theirs so much earlier than the other two couples and they waited being polite but ours came out minutes later. I also had to ask for more water. Overall the food was very good. I would say the timing of getting food with a group needs to be improved as well as sitting guest closer to the reservation time they had or offering an apology for it taking so long would go a long way. For as good as the food was 5/5 stars the service brought this place down.

Stopped at Flight at the corner of 7th St and Pecan Ave for a bite to eat on my way home. I’ll start by saying if you’re looking for a place to have a beer, that this probably isn’t it. This is more of a cocktail and wine bar. They only have about four beers on tap and a limited selection of bottles. They have a pretty solid menu and usually with a new place, I opt to go with something simple. Their go to seems to be the brick oven pizzas, so I got a pepperoni. The ambience really isn’t my style either, but that’s just personal preference. It’s very nice, very clean, and the staff and bartenders are helpful and always available. The pizza was fantastic. Thin, crispy crust, delicious sauce, generous with the cheese, and great distribution of toppings. Despite this not being my typical kind of place, I would go here just for the pizza. I’m not even sure I would rate it one of the top pizza places in Charlotte, but being that it’s five minutes from my house, I’ll definitely be back. A woman I can only assume was the manager stopped by to check on me repeatedly, and then bade me farewell when I left. Overall, top-notch service, food, and surroundings. Even though it’s not typically my kind of place, I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. I look forward to going back and trying some of the other things on the menu.

This place was pretty great. Our dinner club went last evening and we really enjoyed our food.

Meatball appetizer, Pepperoni Pizza, Brussels Sprout Salad, and the Cookie Skillet were all delicious and done very well. We enjoyed our cocktails as they were mixed perfectly. The wine list was interesting and thorough.

The atmosphere was great as it wasn’t over crowded and loud. The patio seemed to be a really great option and it was full the entire evening. We dined in the round corner banquette designed for Hollywood Royalty. Typically, we hate that kinda set up…. But this one was perfect for 6 people without feeling cramped at all and room to spread out. Kudos to the interior designer for getting the banquette sizing correct!

Service was mostly Ok. No real issues there. I wish that pre-bussing of the table would happen a little more frequently before the new food arrived. Cluttered tables aren’t my favorite. Our server did a good job for us.

Management came by and spoke… she was super delightful. I noted how she moved through the restaurant and made conversation with other tables. She was super and you could tell that she enjoyed meeting the other diners.

3 suggestions to management/ownership that I hope they will consider for the future.

  1. add a little more to the menu. There was enough variety to choose something…. But I felt like it could be expanded just a bit.

2). WHAT?!?! No coffee service??? Typically nicer places like this tend to have coffee service to accompany dessert.

Even if you don’t offer Espresso, Cappuccino, or Americano…. You need to at least offer something to accompany dessert that is not a “dessert martini”. I kept heckling our waiter (out of good fun, of course) about coffee to cleanse the pallet with dessert. He told me that if I wanted to order Starbucks next door that he would be happy to run and get it for me. While that was super nice of him to offer…. I feel like coffee (in some form) should be an option for after dinner.

  1. Filtered tap water for drinking. I may be wrong here…. And you may have filtered water for the diners…. But it didn’t taste like it to me. There is nothing more icky than eating delicious food and chasing it down with water that doesn’t taste pure. I guess I could have inquired about Aqua Pana or Peligrino … but I didn’t even think about it. I am the only one in our dinner group that is particular about that. It’s no biggie.

Overall, we were super delighted and will...
