Signature milkshakes/sundaes let you keep the glass mason jar; there is a rinse station in the back for them which was clever; you can recycle them with them if you’d rather not keep the glass. Staff was nice and helpful!
It’s a lot, of whipped cream — I’ll down a container of Starbucks coffee whipped cream, but this whipped cream I scooped aside. The whole thing is sweet; really sweet. The whole concept is presentation and design.
We tried the Charlotte Exclusive Royal TreatMint & the Cookie Monster as Pints — we spent $53 and another $10 for parking.
Parking rates were Free for up to 15m; 16-30m $5; 31-60m $10, etc.
It was good, but personally not $53 good — I feel bummed saying that I prefer Bruster’s, because I am all about the concept, idea and branding of the Yard. Charlotte is partially at fault for high rent/overhead costs though so I get the pricing for its location.
The filling of the cookie in Cookie Monster was odd, not really sure what it was; the cereal didn’t taste freshly opened. Like someone else mentioned, yes all the ice cream was Blue Bell; with two Oatly options. Oatly is amazing and I should have exchanged my ice cream for those; I probably wouldn’t have felt as full leaving.
The presentation is everything, and that’s what it definitely has going for it. Absolutely worth a try if you’re wanting an experience with your ice cream and are a smaller party. Try to park across the street if...
Read moreI recently visited The Yard Milkshake Bar in Charlotte and tried a few of their signature milkshakes – the Salted Caramel Cheesecake and Brookie Batter were both delicious and just as over-the-top as expected. The young staff was fantastic – friendly, helpful, and the place was very clean. No complaints there whatsoever.
My issue is with something that may seem small to some, but it genuinely took away from the overall experience: the cup. I’ve visited multiple Yard locations in other cities and have built a little collection of their custom-logo glass jars. It’s part of the fun – a sweet treat and a cool, reusable keepsake. But this Charlotte location handed me a plain glass jar with a cheap sticker logo slapped on the front.
For the price we’re paying for these shakes, I expected the same quality and attention to detail as other locations. Not only does the sticker cheapen the look, but I can’t even properly wash or reuse the cup without the sticker peeling off. That’s disappointing, especially for returning customers who appreciate the collectible aspect.
Great staff, great shakes – but the downgrade in branding and presentation really brought this visit down a notch. I hope they fix this and bring Charlotte in line with the other Yard Milkshake...
Read moreOrdered the Strawberries & Cream Cheesecake Milkshake via UberEats (which adds an additional $3 to the price). Normally, I wouldn't think of spending this kind of money on a dessert but I saw the reviews and thought I'd try it.
Perhaps part of the allure for this place is the presentation - which is kinda cool. The ingredients.....that's another story.
This dessert included several frozen, generic cheesecake pieces throughout - which I ended up avoiding altogether. There's also a strawberry swirl/ripple that looked yummy but was pretty cheap tasting. Another reviewer stated they use Blue Bell ice cream, which contains high fructose corn syrup and isn't a top-end ice cream. I didn't taste any whip cream so I can't speak to that. I was a bit surprised the ingredients were not higher quality considering how expensive the dessert was. I made it through a 1/4 of the dessert and threw out the rest 🤷
Another reviewer mentioned they'd prefer a blizzard over a dessert from Yard. As unimpressive as my dessert was, I'd...
