Flying Saucer Draught Emporium: A Beer Oasis with a Side of Bustle
Calling all hop heads and social butterflies! If you're searching for a lively hangout with a stellar beer selection, look no further than Flying Saucer Draught Emporium. Here's the lowdown from my recent visit with some work buddies:
The Good:
Beer Nirvana: Forget your basic brews, Flying Saucer boasts a craft beer paradise with hundreds of options on tap, spanning the globe and every style imaginable. From crisp IPAs to rich stouts and fruity sours, there's something for every palate to explore. We spent a good chunk of time just perusing the tap list, feeling like kids in a candy store.
Self-Serve Savvy: No need for awkward table-hunting here. Flying Saucer's self-serve seating encourages a laid-back atmosphere. Grab a table, gather your crew, and settle in for a night of good vibes and good beer.
Finger Food Fun: While the main attraction is undoubtedly the beer, Flying Saucer doesn't skimp on the snacks. We shared a selection of their finger foods, and everything hit the spot – perfectly crispy fries, juicy wings, and cheesy nachos fueled our beer-fueled adventures.
The Not-So-Good:
Crowded Cosmos: Be prepared for a lively scene, especially during peak hours. The self-serve seating can lead to a bit of table chaos when it gets busy, so be patient and keep your eyes peeled for an opening.
Pricey Pints: While the beer selection is impressive, it comes at a premium. Be prepared to shell out a few bucks more per pint compared to your average bar.
Overall:
Flying Saucer Draught Emporium is a must-visit for any craft beer enthusiast. The staggering selection, laid-back atmosphere, and tasty bites make it a perfect spot to unwind, socialize, and explore the world of beer. Just be ready for a potentially crowded scene and a slightly higher price tag. But hey, a good beer is worth its weight in gold (or hops, in this case)!
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (extra points for the incredible beer selection and finger food, minus one for the crowds and price)
So, raise a glass and cheers to Flying Saucer! Just remember, there's a reason they call it a draught emporium – you might get swept away in a sea of beer...

It's been a year and I've finally made it back. Last visit here we only had a couple of beers and left. This time around we arrived with appetites in tow and were ready for some lunch.
I went with the Saucer Burger which was a Blank Angus burger along with usual condiments, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, red onion and then topped with Pepper Jack cheese. I added bacon as well because... well it's Bacon darn it! The burger was delicious and served with shoestring fries. I really enjoyed it and the Purple Haze washed it down easily.
The service was great. I don't recall the name of our server however she was on the ball and answered all of our questions easily. Especially when we inquired about the saucers on the walls and what the various color differences indicated. I can say without hesitation if I lived in Charlotte I would be visiting here on a regular basis and I look forward to coming back in 2019.

This is a cool place! We stopped in here after going to another store in the same shopping center. My buddy Dave and I popped in here for a pint while his wife went to another store.
The place has a great design with saucers all over the ceiling. Each has a name however I didn't bother to ask about them. We ordered our drinks and and took a look around. The ceiling and and is very dark inside and there are several large mirrors on the walls. Also if you go to the back and and around the corner there's a large back dining area. The first thing that came to mind was "This would a great place for a mob hit! I need to sit back here!".
While we were enjoying our beers I took a look over the menu. There's a lot of cool looking dishes on here, and some I would say are eclectic. I wish we could have stayed to eat, definitely next time.
Last but not least, service was great. I didn't catch our bartenders name but she was super friendly and helpful and definitely a credit to the...
Read moreI do not write reviews, but this place left me wanting to save others from the frustration. After the Bavarian pretzel, everything went down hill. The waitress barely paid attention to us, and they were NOT busy. We saw her several times standing over by some guy worker flirting with him. I imagine our food was sitting on the line for some time because all 3 meals were COLD. Steak, fries, hamburger, chicken, all cold. They left the avocado off the paco bowl. When we said something about the missing avocado and the cold meals, the waitress went to fix the avocado only. They remade the bowl. It had avocado and warm chicken, but the rice and beans were still cold. It would have been a superb bowl if it had been hot or even just a little warm. The steak ended up going home to be heated in the microwave. The medium well burger was definitely medium. The fries were hard and chewy, like they'd been sitting awhile. The margarita tasted more like a mojito and a bland one at that. And on top of the fact food was cold, our glasses sat EMPTY after the pretzel! She did not refill our drinks a single time. She wasn't friendly. She barely spoke to us. But oh she was paying attention to that guy. Now, the atmosphere is pretty cool with the saucers lining the walls and ceiling. But tell me why when there is something stuck on the ceiling, why does a staff member get a long pole and bring it down in such a manner that dust is spewed over two tables (including ours) where people are eating food?!? This was our first and ONLY visit to this establishment! There will NOT be another!! For the price of the meal, I could have eaten at a local diner with hot food and much better service at least 3 times. I do not recommend this...
