Que Onda Tacos + Tequila University City — Restaurant in Charlotte

Had the pleasure of checking this location out thanks to Yelp as they hosted an event here. The experience in general was amazing! From the moment I walked in till the moment I left. As soon as I arrived I greeted and immediately my drink order was taken. I tried their frozen Fria in strawberry and mango flavor, and it was delicious! Perfect for this summer evening! Everything was amazing. From the unlimited cocktails to their 3 course meals. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and they gave GREAT recommendations! The staff in general just overall seemed very happy to be there and help everyone out! We were lucky enough to meet the owner, his wife, the GM, and Assistant GM! Love their story and what they are striving for. It felt like one big party! I ordered their "Cevichito Coctel" which is a shrimp cocktail and I will say, it looked very "Creamy" and I wasn't too sure about it but once I tasted it, it was "Chefs kiss!" 😘🤌🏼 as the entre, I got their Berrian tacos with black beans and rice, I have never had Berrian tacos, so I don't have much to compare, but I can't imagine them being any better. They had just the right amount of onions to them, and the broth was delicious! Everything was great. I have been to the other location off The Plaza, but this one by far was the best. From the vibe, friendliness of the staff and just everything. They do have a big parking lot so plenty of spaces to choose from. I will definitely be back to try other items...

We were excited about trying a new place for us tonight. Unfortunately it started off with fire roasted black salsa from a jar that no one in our party cared for. That was 1.99 ok. Then we ordered the cheese dip which was also disappointingly small and again no much flavor. We ordered street tacos which had looked dynamite from the online pictures. But as you see below looks can be very deceiving. They looked as though they came from a tapas menu. Smallest street taco I’ve ever seen. Again little to no taste. Maybe the cook called in sick or something because the food had zero seasoning or salt. And to add insult to injury to bill came to $64.98 for 2 adults and one child. We all order sweet tea. I would under a bill like this with some adult beverages added to it. But we only had over priced sweet tea. This location may be good for adult drinks. The bar looked pretty stocked. But the food might have gotten better had we been drinking some adult beverages to help with the lack of taste. Overall I’d rate the food and 1 but the service was a 10. You can’t blame the food on the person carrying it back n forth, well unless u know for a fact they cooked it too. Maybe it was an off night we really aren’t sure …! But be prepared this...

I enjoy the highland creek location but can’t say the same for this one. They advertised a flight in instagram that looked really good and specified it was only available at this location. When we ask for it the waitress has no idea what we are talking about. She says she needs to go ask the manager. She comes back and says they can’t make it. The comes back again and says they will do it but asks us what flavors we want when it’s supposed to all four they have. We order two. One comes out in about 10 min (with all four flavors). Around 15 min or so later then 2nd one hasn’t come. So we go ask what’s going on. They say oh it’s on it’s way now(that was a lie). After another 5 min the girl comes out and says they only have ONE tray for the flight, which the person with me has. They ask if it’s OK without one. Yeah sure whatever at this point. They bring mine out on a fajita board after I had already got my food... How do you advertise something, have only one tray for it, don’t tell your employees about it, and can’t decide if you’re even going to make it? Total embarrassment and pretty pathetic. Also, not once the manager coming to talk to us just sending the waitress...
