I decided to check this spot out. Of course, prior to entering, you had to show your ID, and they scan you to make sure you aren't carrying any weapons. I was definitely ok with that. I didn't realize how small it was inside, but it was a good small. Up North, I'm used to lounges being bigger, but again, it was still nice. That place got packed real quick. I arrived around 9 PM. It had a very nice vibe to the place.
Once I was seated, I was greeted in a pleasant, warm, and professional manner by the server named Mella. She explained the menu and took my drink and food order. I ordered Brussel Sprouts, Thai BBQ Wings, Seafood Eggrolls, and a glass of Amaretto. I have to admit, every single thing I ordered was super delicious. Mella was busy, but not once did she miss a beat. She was very attentive and checked on us in a timely manner throughout our time there.
I do want to point out that parking is a pain in the behind. There's no parking lot for the establishment, and street parking is crazy if you desire to park closer to the lounge. Lastly, make sure you check your receipt just in case gratuity is already added. I don't know if they do that with every guest or when there is a certain number of guests in your party. I would still make sure because not paying attention, we tipped twice. Give them a try. I'll definitely...
Read moreIf you find yourself at Medusa Lounge in Charlotte, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar with Gerold. Seriously, he’s one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met. From the moment you walk up, he makes you feel welcome like you’re an old friend, even if it’s your first time there.
Gerold just gets it. He’s professional without being stiff, fun without being over the top, and always seems to know what kind of vibe you’re in the mood for. Whether you want to chat or just enjoy your drink in peace, he reads the room and delivers.
Now let’s talk drinks. This man knows his cocktails. I asked for something refreshing but bold, and he came back with a tequila, blood orange, and chili creation that blew me away. And he nails the classics too. Old fashioneds, martinis, mojitos — all perfectly balanced. You can tell he actually cares about what he’s making and puts real effort into it.
Even when the bar is packed, Gerold keeps his cool. He moves fast, keeps everything clean and organized, and never seems flustered. Watching him work is honestly impressive.
Beyond the drinks, he just adds so much to the atmosphere. Medusa Lounge already has a cool vibe, but Gerold takes it up a notch. He’s a big part of what makes the place...
Read moreThis place is a joke! My husband and I came tonight, and there were red flags immediately at the door. The guy working the entrance didn't greet us, and when I said hi, he just said, "If you’re coming in here, please have your IDs out and ready," with an attitude! He reluctantly let us in, and we were confused because there were zero people in line. I almost walked past the place because the door man was dressed very outdated, looking like he stepped out of the Roaring '20s, with that suit and hat.
Once we went inside, we sat at the bar for 10 minutes, and the bartenders completely ignored us. The bartender directly in front of us saw us but chose to walk away to talk to another table. Then constantly looked our way but didn’t acknowledge us, so we left.
Looking at the reviews, I see they have a dress code I wasn’t aware of, but I’m assuming that’s why we were treated so unprofessionally. I’m not from this area, so I'm not sure if this is considered "upscale" here, but from what I saw tonight, the lounge certainly isn't worth dressing up for. Blue lights and a basic artificial tree don’t make your place upscale. I won’t be back, and I’m sure this place won’t be around next time I visit, given the lack of...
