My experience at Platform Sports was just okay. Let's start with parking: parking for this location is a bit of a challenge. The parking lot beside the building fills up quickly, and you could easily spend 20-30 minutes circling to find a spot. My recommendation: park down the way in a parking garage and walk up. Avoid parking in unauthorized spots, or your vehicle will be towed - you have been warned.
Platform Sports is located on the third floor of the building. Considering this is a new building, only one of two elevators was operational, which was inconvenient, especially with a large crowd trying to enter or exit. This definitely needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, as it could cause significant issues for all businesses in the building.
Once inside, we were required to show identification, as this is a 21+ location. Since our party was already in the building, we were seated quickly. However, the place gets packed quickly! It felt a bit like sardines in a can, but I understand they are working with limited space. One thing I noticed immediately was the loud music. We were told there was a DJ present. My party and I could barely hear each other speak. To be honest, it gave me more of a nightclub vibe than a sports bar, which was a bit surprising, considering everyone, including us, was there to watch the game. I will say that the section we sat in had a perfect view of the large screen, which could display multiple sports events simultaneously.
Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. She quickly took our order, including drinks. Our table ordered several dishes, including wings, flatbread pizza, several orders of fries, and a lobster roll. The menu items are all Ă la carte. Most of the food arrived on time, but two orders were delayed by about 10 minutes, despite everyone ordering at the same time. The staff apologized and explained that the last order may have been accidentally mixed up with another table.
The food was okay. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had; I've certainly had better. My flatbread was good, but I would recommend slightly reducing the amount of blue cheese. While I'm a blue cheese lover, it can quickly overpower any dish if used too liberally. My group felt that the wings were also just okay. One person commented that the chicken might not have been seasoned properly before being tossed in the sauce. Automatic 20% gratuity is added to bill which seems to norm these days.
I truly believe Platform Sports has potential. Would I return? Probably not, as it's simply not my type...
Read moreAt The Platform Sports Bar in South for dinner tonight, and I gotta say. The concept has such great potential and an excellent location.
Walking in, based on how it looks from the outside, you would think itâs a bigger place, but the inside is pretty small. A huge wall of screens showing just about every game thatâs on dominates one end of it. The other end has the bar and more TVs. Service was good, the staff was friendly and attentive. Thereâs a disclaimer at the bottom of the menu the 20% is added to every check as a gratuity that goes directly to their staff. I was a little annoyed about that, but at least they let you know ahead of time. I was also annoyed that they charged me five dollars to add bacon and cheese to my baked potato. That I did not know until I got my check. I was also shocked that has a sports bar, they didnât have any draft beer, or even bottles. Only cans. Great atmosphere for a sports bar, they look to have an awesome patio, but it was closed when I was there. Looks like theyâre doing some kind of construction. That was a little disappointing.
I got six of the buffalo wings as an appetizer. I thought they were a little on the small side and they were overcooked. The blue cheese dressing was phenomenal though.
As my entrĂ©e, I got the New York strip cook medium with a baked potato on the side. I assumed the potato came dressed, so I ordered it with just bacon, cheese and butter. The potato was great. Nice portion of toppings and not too big. The steak was just OK. It was cooked closer to medium well and wasnât really seasoned. I know, I know. Learned my lesson about ordering a steak at a sports bar, but thatâs what I was craving.
There were two girls seated next to me at the bar who ordered a flatbread pizza and a buffalo chicken dip that looked pretty good.
All in all, I would probably come back to try something else off the menu, and would definitely consider coming here for March madness or college or NFL football. Just canât get over the fact that they donât have draft...
Read moreVisiting from NY came here because the reviews were good to come for football on Sundays. The place was very clean, nice atmosphere. Our server was not good. For got our sodas no big deal we eventually got them. The first cocktail I ordered the glass had lipstick all over it I had to bring it back to the bar but then we ordered wings and fries 1st 25 mins went by nothing came out we then put in hummus, chicken skins and a flatbread pizza and those came out. Hummus was ok so were the chicken skins.pizza was not crispy at all n just looked like it was microwaved on top so the cheese was melted. 45 mins went by and I received everything else we ordered except the 1st 2 things the wings and fries. I called the server over and asked her to make sure the fries and wings were taken off our bill because we didnât get them . She did not seem to happy about it and said oh thru prob making it now and I told her no thank you I ordered everything else way after that I received them and it was 45 mins after I ordered it. The final straw though for us was when I went to cash out she said there was a 20% gratuity included in the bill but she stated that â none of that went to her unless we tipped over the included amount.â I said to her so none of the grad included goes to you then who does it go to. She said the bussers and the bartenders. Iâve been bartending over 20yrs and Iâve never heard of such a thing. I spoke to a manager before I left and he said that they pool tips so the included grad does go to her because itâs pooled so everyone gets a cut. Just for that reason alone I would never go back there. To lie to customers so you can get extra money is not right. I do not have any issues with included gratuity but for your employees to lie to your customers so they can get extra money is very greedy and could cost your business customers for the incorrect information provided by...
