We come here pretty often, and honestly, it's like spinning a roulette wheel of service quality. Today was a new level, though. There were literally four tables in the entire place. Not 40. Not 400. Four. We placed our order at 6:40 PM. It was 8:10 PM… and still no food. Not even a whiff of it. I went up to the register around the 30-minute mark to ask what was going on. She told me that it was pizza special Monday. First of all — there were maybe 10 humans total in the building. Also, she didn’t even go check the kitchen. Just kinda shrugged it off like, “eh, Mondays.” Another 30 minutes later, the table next to us starts raising eyebrows, and I go up again. This time, someone finally decides to go check on the order. Comes back with, “They’re just now starting it.” Just now. Starting. As in, an hour after we ordered. I’ve seen bread rise faster. Eventually, I asked if a manager was around. He comped the pizza, which — thanks, I guess? But after waiting over 1 hour and 20 minutes, it felt like the absolute least they could do. The woman at the register also had an attitude like I was somehow the problem for wondering where my food was. All in all: love the concept of this place, but the execution lately? Yikes. If you’re gonna dine here, bring snacks… and maybe a...
Read moreI really enjoy the drinks, the pizza, and the vibes at Seaboard. I’ve gone twice, once I ordered everything at the bar and once I ordered from the table. Apparently, there’s normally a QR code to order from but that was not working last night. Instead, a server took my order. She was very nice and kind and helpful, but it would be 20-30 minutes before she would return to our table when there was maybe like 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. We placed drink orders and were ready to order food, but we couldn’t do that for like 20 minutes after our drinks were brought out by a runner. I wouldn’t even see her on the floor. Now, I don’t think this was her fault! I imagine that she was likely pulling double duty and had other responsibilities but was also having to serve tables because of the QR code disaster. It seems like the place needs some better management or needed to call in more staff since the QR codes were down. It also would’ve been perfectly acceptable if she just told me that since the QR codes were down, it would be most efficient to order my food and drinks at the bar. There also could’ve been a sign up warning people the QR codes were down and to order at the bar.
I highly recommend the espresso martini and The...
Read moreGenerally, I enjoy Seaboard South End, but my experience there last night during trivia was very troubling. My girlfriend and I ordered two pizzas, and they took almost an hour to come out. Then, for some reason, the trivia announcer called out our order to the entire restaurant, apparently because they had forgotten it.
When the pizzas finally arrived, one of them was completely charred. It was so burnt that it looked black as night and crumbled if you tapped it. I asked politely if they could refund that one, especially since I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t even have the appetite anymore. Instead, a waiter came over and told me they couldn’t refund it, but could offer a gift card. On top of that, they blamed me for the burnt pizza, saying it was my fault because I ordered it without cheese.
I’m lactose intolerant. What was I supposed to do? You even offer a 'no cheese' option on the menu, so why criticize a customer for using it? I’ve honestly never seen...
