Come here 20+ times, never been requested to show ID until last Friday. No problem as I have a valid unexpired driver license ID. Denied service due to a very small chip on the plastic lamination on top left corner, photo attached. What establishment reject customer off that? You have to assume there’s more to it. This happened at 11:30 on 07/25. Discrimination? The regular bartender Mark would recognize me is how many times I’ve been here with no issue.
Update Called yesterday, they defended it by saying ID must be intact. Definition of intact is not PERFECT. Intact by definition means serviceable which is different for different things. Serviceable for an ID is can all necessary information be read properly, picture clearly visible, can be scanned from the back - which it met all criteria.
Final update the response given by the owner is poor and purposefully not addressing any of the detail I provided. My ID is valid according to all standards & public records provided by the ABC. The main purpose of checking ID at a bar is to prevent underage drinking. Your employee failed that, made poor judgement, and you’re not addressing it. Didn’t address that I’m a frequent customer, meaning no issues previously. Didn’t address the photo I provided showing what was deemed unacceptable by your employee. “Our employees check ID for under 30 customers” isn’t the issue. The issue is that I had a valid ID, according to ABC, that...
Read moreMy date and I happened to stop by here based on the Google reviews. We were specifically seeking a great espresso martini.
We walked in and sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by Mark the bartender. He showed us the cocktail and food menu. I love that the menu is limited. They have a variety of small bite options that take "bar food" to the next level. Thank you Chuck the chef!
We tried the short rib bites, ahi tuna bowl, wedge salad, and focaccia spread plates. The short ribs were delectably tender. The ahi tuna had a perfect spicy kick to it. We absolutely loved all of the sauces that came with the focaccia plate.
With all of this food we had the best espresso martinis. The martini is served with a sphere of frozen cream. We learned that Mark actually created some of the cocktails on the menu such as: track 61, cloak and clove, and the golden ratio. We tried track 61 and cloak and clove. Track 61 uses a rye liquor and a 2:1 ratio. All of marks drinks are STIFF. Cloak and clove uses gin which is much lighter and refreshing.
Mark made the experience incredible and memorable. It was full of laughs and a good time. We ended up spending over 4 hours here chatting about bartending, careers, mixology, and life in charlotte. I would come back here just to chat with Mark and grab a Lunar Leap.
10/10 would recommend coming to...
Read moreWe found this place on Google maps when we were looking for a cocktail bar to go to after dinner. It got great reviews so we decided to try it.
The outside looks like a club or something, all of the doors and windows are blacked out. But on the inside it is so nice! There’s two bars and lots of seating. The decor is so cute and it’s dimly lit. Perfect for date night!
Their cocktail list isn’t that large but I liked the variety. I had them make me a chocolate dessert martini and they did amazing. Most places end up tasting like chocolate milk, which is fine, but this one had more flavors which made it unique. I loooooved it!
My boyfriend got the s’more old fashioned from the list which comes with a burnt marshmallow on top. He liked it! He also got the pomegranate and gin cocktail from their list and it was also top notch. Not too much juice, not too sweet, all of the flavors mixed really well.
We also got the charcuterie board and it was really delicious. I felt like the prices reflected the quality of the food and drinks.
We would consider ourselves cocktail connoisseurs and love trying places like this. There’s only one other cocktail bar in Charlotte that makes drinks this good. We will...
