So disappointed. My husband is a Charlotte native so we came at the opening earlier to see it when they finished the renovations and were so proud, they have made it so pretty. I had noticed that downstairs was almost flat, so mostly you have to see around the back of the head of the person in front of you, so we decided to buy tickets upstairs in the balcony for the movie Indiana Jones today. It's pretty steep but that didn't help that much, you still can have a bunch of heads in front of you. Plus the seats are more uncomfortable than the ones in a plane, flat back and shorter, I am 5'4" and my knees almost touched the front seat, my husband, at 6' had to have his legs leaning to the side. Two hours of that at 60 yrs old is harsh. The sound was loud, it surrounds you but the dialogue is kind of muffled (old movie?), the visuals were good, but if you have a big tv at home, not so dissimilar... The concession line was super long, the people working there super nice. The tickets for the movie were $10, plus $6 for fees (Ticketmaster - uggg), plus taxes. It's like a great phone that doesn't work for phone calls 😂 I wouldn't pay to be this...
Read moreAs a charlottes native who was born well after the closure of this theatre in the 70s, I had no clue it used to exist until they reopened in March freshly remodeled after being closed almost 50yrs. Do be Mindful though that bathrooms are only on the bottom level or the balcony level. They do have elevators though so that helps, but just be advised a trip could take a little longer than normal if you’re sitting in the orchestra area. Staff were great and friendly. They do have alcohol can purchase along with some snacks. There is a mixture of seats from individual chairs, loveseats and pull down stadium seats. You can buy tickets online or skip the online fees and buy at...
Read moreAlready running up the LGBTQ Flag.,This Theatre spent Millions of Dollars only to be all inclusive to the LGBTQ community all the while ignoring the rest of the community. Shameful. We are all catching on and fast.Jared Misner (Social Media Manager) needs to have some social media skills. He attacks anyone who criticizes the theatre with insults and calls us concerned about the cultural direction of the theatre “obsessed or Hateful”! Not the case Jared! We just want ‘The Carolina’ to reflect all of us in your entertainment choices not just the LGBTQ Community. We are concerned about the investment of millions of dollars donated only to cater to a minority. We all want to enjoy the Theatre and relish in its glory.
Thank you for the attention to...
