Fantastic pizza. If you like a million toppings on your pizza, I wouldn't go here. I believe you are looking for Dominos. It's good pizza, just keep it simple. Cheese, pepperoni, sausage, maybe some mushrooms. Please do not try and order your pinterest recreation. They do not have that and it will not taste good. For some reason, the larger the pizza the better it cooks. Just don't get a personal pie, crust is too thick proportionally and thus typically needing it to cook longer and is hard on the bottom. There is probably a more accurate explanation but regardless, I stand by the 24inch pie. Get pizza for the week and I eat this all the damn time. I'm at Tony's at least once a week, usually a couple times. I'm flushing personal pies when I go to the bathroom. I know this much Tony's is killing me slowly, but I can't stop eating it. It's that good.
A lot of people complained about customer service. I think it's more subjective. Maybe ask yourself a few questions. Am I easily offended? Is this really affecting me? Do I still reflect upon it from time to time? Is this just a common occurrence for me when I go out?
If you answered yes to most of these questions, it may be time to get some help. If you or a loved one is found to be overly affected by customer service, you can give them the help they need. Everyone needs that friend to give a pat on the back and say, "Hey, I know you are upset but, maybe it was the way you handled it." Now if you already know this about yourself, but can't retain the urge to hop on google and smash away at those keys after having that 'horrible experience', then you are already ahead of the game, because admitting is the first step. Kudos to you.
Now, assuming you don't leave one star reviews all the time, if you had a hard time with the customer service it might also be due to the unique nature of customer service at Tony's. I'll start by saying, it's not their strong suit but, they are there to make pizza. They also make very good pizza. So for the most part you can yell at me over the phone, as long as I get some good pizza. I don't think they are intentionally rude. I see what people mean. I see more of a fast pace kitchen though. Per example, you have a cook answering the phone who is deeply invested in whats going on in the oven at the moment, it gets a little difficult if you are still pondering or asking a lot of questions about the food. They probably aren't trying to be rude but sometimes if you aren't pushy people will drag a conversation. Gotta get back to cooking. Usually is a lady to answer the phone though. Very nice in my opinion. She's a good example of most people working there. Very quick talking. Very to the point. Very casual with how they talk. I don't think a lot of people from this area are used to this, unless you're from out of state, so some traits can seem offensive. This is a very drawn out explanation and a complete waste of my time at this point. But I'm already this far, so.
Look, order in confidence. That's why I say simple. It's kind of supposed to be. If someone gives you a funky look, they aren't questioning your choice, they want clarification and thats how they do it. Odds are they don't care what you are ordering or saying and nothing is against the customer. They care about your order of course, but they aren't always being rude. It's just a style of conversation. I've been with people that get upset and I gotta tell them, "it's just who they are, it's not against you." How people are raised. ¯(ツ)/¯
Anyways, give them a try, my favorite pizza around. If you work in a Ballantyne Coporate office, head down for lunch and relax. If your headed home on a friday and the wife and kids are hungry, nothing better than a big cheese pie.
TLDR; Good pizza, Get a Large, Keep it simple, Order...
Read moreOn Friday, July 17th I visited Tony’s Pizza and received some hurtful service. I recently relocated to the area and was searching for a great pizza spot where I could buy slices. After trying others Tony’s is the best, along with the Limoncello Marscapone sponge cake. Yes, I said the best. This the reason for this post. I am disappointed in the service. I know they are busy but my patronage should be respected. I ordered a cheese slice, they gave me a pepperoni instead. I took it back in hopes of the same bubbly fresh slice but cheese only. I did not get that. I got a dried older looking slice that they tried to pass off as coming from the same pie as the pepperoni. Clearly they mistook me for a fool. One can tell the difference between a fresh soft hot cheese slice and a dry stale looking one - even after putting in the oven the cheese did not soften and bubble up again. Instead of agreeing to give me a fresh slice they kept Trying to pass of the stale looking one. And wanted to give me my money back to get rid of me instead of the right pizza. Before conclusions are made. I was not loud I asked that the pizza be reheated then asked for a fresher slice and they refused to give me a fresher slice which is all I wanted because I wanted the same wonderful experience I had the previous two visits. The manager insisted they give me the money so I could leave. That was very hurtful because his actions showed me that he did not need nor want my business and I could just leave. Which is true, the hurt was that they didn’t even try to satisfy the customer. What happened to customer satisfaction? Regardless of the good pizza and sponge cake, I can not justify spending my money at the Ballantyne location again. I pray the other Charlotte location is better and friendlier. Being gently toss out of a place is hurtful. And then the manager refused to speak with me when I called to share my feelings with him personally. People have...
Read moreI had a takeout last night from Tony's Pizza in Ballantyne. I ordered jalapeno poppers and a blanco pizza with spinach, jalapeno, mushrooms, and extra cheese. Instead of giving me poppers they gave me fried ravioli. The jalapenos on my pizza were out of a can not fresh. The cheese came out of a tube, and the spinach was previously frozen and not cooked with the pizza. It was just thrown on top. This was quite a disappointing experience. I thought I would help out a local business instead of making the pizza myself, which I will do next time.
The pizza and ravioli cost $29.25. The delivery fee was $5.99. Not sure who got this, the delivery guy of the restaurant? The service fee was $1.54. Charged on top of the delivery fee. The sales tax was $3.03. I know who got this! The tip was $7.96. Not sure who got this, the delivery guy of the restaurant? And the donation was $0.23. Not sure what it went to. Grand Total = $48.00 for a NOT NY Pizza Experience! Never Again!!!
I called the restaurant about the poppers and was told they ran out and decided to given me ravioli instead. They could have called!!!
