El Tropico — Restaurant in Charlottesville

Temper your expectations, these reviews are out of control. The food was just okay, and took quite a while to come out. The chicken was low quality with lots of gristle, and was not properly seasoned- this went for the whole meal, everything was lacking flavor.

Customer service was okay, but really could improve. The staff weren't rude or anything, just a bit stand-offish. Could be cultural differences.

If there aren't any other options, then this place would be okay. This spot is not horrible, but it certainly won't blow your socks off like some of these...

The quesadilla(carna asada) here is the best we have ever had. Super cheesy, not shy on meat, the tortilla has an authentic taste. We tried the pastor tacos as well very good, plenty of meat and homemade corn tortilla. Also had our first Papusa, it blew my mind on how good it was. Was not disappointed at all.
