Fabio's NY Pizza — Restaurant in Charlottesville

Do NOT go to this place. Horrible pizza. First of all, if I wanted pizza, I have over 15 choices within a mile radius. That being said, I was craving a real New York Style pizza, the whole shebang. I've heard some good things about this place, so I decided to try it out for the first time. Big mistake! They got my order wrong from the get go. I repeated myself two times, and the person who took my order still got it wrong. And when they handed it to me, I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, this is wrong and not what I ordered. They showed me the ticket like I was responsible for that in the first place. No, idiot, your associate is responsible for that because they generated it. I ordered an XL cheeze New York Style crust and was handed a L. Now, why the hell would I go to order a damn New York Style pizza and order anything smaller than an XL? I was craving a real New York pizza and now I'm pissed! And you wanna know what the icing on the cake was? When the idiot who showed me the ticket that I didn't even make and wasn't what I wanted or ordered, when that idiot tried to rectify, he was like "I can throw a couple more slices in there." Let me get this straight, you just going to give me 2 slices of pizza when a large pizza is 8 slices and the extra large is 12, like that makes it okay? And you know what? It wasn't even about the damn slices. It was about the WHOLE shebang, the WHOLE pie! The way the XL bakes in the oven, how it all comes together in the heat. It's about the stretched out huge slice where it's so big, you can't help but take a huge bite out of it. But no. Experience ruined. And when I got home and actually tried it, the pizza wasn't anything special and actually even a little disgusting. Hands down the best pizza I have ever had! Fabio’s has ample off-street parking and looks very clean and well-maintained. The staff is super friendly, helpful and accommodating. The ample menu has something for everyone, I would suggest checking it out online at Fabio’s website before coming in. My husband and I ordered several items. Our house salad was a generous portion, very fresh and had a fantastic balsamic vinaigrette (homemade I believe). Our cheesesteak sub was made with high quality steak, cheese and locally made buns with a seasoning blend that made it better than any other cheesesteak I’ve ever had. Choosing a pizza at Fabio’s is pretty difficult because all of the pizzas sound delicious, but we decided upon the Capricciosa (ham/black olives/artichokes/mushrooms) and the White Gourmet (broccoli/spinach/fresh tomatoes/white sauce/fresh garlic/mozzarella cheese). I’m not even a big olive fan but I really loved the briny flavor of the olives with the ham. The White Gourmet has the most luscious, decadent white sauce and plenty of fresh vegetable toppings. We loved their crust (we got the same on both pizzas). Shared some Italian Ice for dessert, it was delightful and refreshing. It was my first time eating at this place today. I’m still new to the area and I’m making my rounds to all the local spots when they come recommend recommended by people. Fabio’s came recommended to me by one of my neighbors once he realized through conversation, that I was born and raised in Queens, New York and said that I had to try this place.

I ordered a two slice lunch combo one regular cheese, one with pepper and a side of french fries with a ginger ale. The staff seemed friendly, but not too talkative, which is fine because it kind of gives that New York vibe lol Ordering was pretty simple. They have touchscreen kiosks that are pretty easy to figure out, but they always have a staff member there ready to help you input your order. The pizza came out quick fresh and hot, both slices had crunchy crusts, were a good size and had a flop to them which means you have to fold them in half and eat sideways just like back home so that was definitely a plus The flavors were where they needed to be, and I will definitely be bringing my wife and family back to this place and share the experience with them

To go, I ordered two cannolis one plain one with pistachio, which I’m gonna enjoy later on today with my wife and probably get back on here to edit this post.
