Taqueria Poncitlan — Restaurant in Charter Oak

I had this placed bookmarked for a while. Food pics looked pretty good, especially salsas. On this lazy Sunday and craving menudo, i cruised through options via delivery app. When this place came up, I didn’t hesitate. Unfortunately, food was very late and cold by the time it arrived. Driver waited almost an hour and I waited almost two hours for my food. Parts of my order were wrong too. My beef hard shell tacos were chicken and carnitas taco was adobada. The flavors were ok, so almost give them a pass for those blunders. Also ordered the carne asada plate, asada huarache, and menudo. Menudo was very bland. Not something I would order again. The asada wasn’t it what I expected for a plate/combination. It was basically chopped taco meat on a plate. Flavor was ok, but again not something I would order again. Huarache was also just ok. Best part of the whole meal was the salsas. They did give us one of each. Red, green and milder one for chips.

All in all, was not a good experience from start to end. Going to have to pass on this place next time. Too many great Mexican spots around town to settle...

The place looks unique from the outside, also has a drive thru. Inside seating about 4 tables plus outside patio seating. Very friendly staff and inside decor has a very Hispanic/Mexican homestyle warmth. Now the food... so far I've been stuck on their carnitas and asada tacos! Comes with grilled onions and roasted jalapenos! Sooooo gooooood! Meat not dry and very tasty. They are not cheap on the meat either! I also love the abodado burrito (may have mis spelled that), I will try that on a sandwich next visit. Great little gem in town. Us over at the Acura dealer enjoy their food very much! See...

This guy is a very hard-working individual who makes everything from what I've seen fresh and from scratch. They wake up at 3-5 am just to start cooking and the aroma is to die for. I work up the street and live down the street it's perfect because I really do appreciate the authenticity of this place and respect the hard work. The staff is family orientated and the food my God is amazing. My favorite is the burros but there is Soo much more to fall in love with, tacos, chili Rellenos, piscado the menu is priceless go and...
