As someone from New York City, and is spoiled by the brunch culture there, and moved to NJ, it’s a challenge to find brunch spots with delicious innovative, fun and creative food and vibes. Happened to find this place while driving to Namkeen to get their popular chicken and waffles (which were bomb). So I had to definitely come back, especially since my Punjabi husband loves an authentic Punjabi breakfast. The place is first come first serve, to be seated, and seating is very limited. Depending on the time of the week, you may have to wait anywhere from 5-30 minutes. Not bad but I feel that there should be a bit more of a formal seating system since there’s always a small crowd waiting. The service is very good, but you do have to order at the register, not a big deal. The interior is very chill and cute, very surprising given the vibe of the neighborhood. The food is super delicious, unique and perfect with this Indian, homey vibe. My husband got the egg Paratha dish which was served with Indian pickled mango, which was such a nice surprise! I don’t drink Indian Chai, but according to my husband, it was delicious. Their lattes are great- I got an iced latte with oat milk, pump of caramel. I’d recommend they provide more options in terms of drinks, it’d be great for someone who’s looking for a morning beverage but not looking to sit there and eat. My only issue is the crowd this place draws which is families with a lot of children. I went on a Sunday late morning and I felt like I was at a loud daycare center- all you could hear was children screaming, and parents talking loudly at their kids- kind of ruined the chill vibe. This comment might make people mad, but it’s important to note if you’re looking to have a relaxed and chill brunch with a date or a friend. I was there for about 1.5 hours and the place went through about 6 families with a bunch of little kids. Was not the greatest. But if you don’t care, and you’re looking for delicious Indian breakfast, brunch or coffee, this spot...
Read moreI usually love going to desi fusion spots but my experience at Chashni was one that really disappointed.my first issue came from the table and lack of space in the restaurant. I have been to Chashni multiple times and understand that it's first come first serve most of the time I'm the weekends. A table opened up and I went to sit down and was told that there was a waitlist, that was no issue. As soon as I got up to wait another party came in and asked if the table next to me that was covered in dishes was available and the waitress immediately seated them, I'm assuming that it was without being on the waitlist since they asked if it was available. So even knowing that I had gotten there and was waiting for a table, a party that came in after me was seated. Finally when the food came, My food was cold and when I asked if I could have something warmed up again I was told I could not, so my breakfast ended up being a hard cold paratha. Went to ask for a couple of extra forks and knives and the waitress, the same women that told me I had to eat the cold food and would not seat me at first, watched me stand waiting to ask (after I asked to have the food warmed ) and would not come back to the front stand, I ended up having to ask someone else's that was asked by another party for forks and knives. They all just kind of stared and looked at me while I was waiting to get utensils which made me feel extremely unwelcome. What's the point of having serving staff if they don't even care about your experience eating somewhere? Can for sure say that I won't be coming back here, which is sad since I've been multiple times and love the food, but when you're treated like this, especially going to a Pakistani establishment which usually are all about hospitality, if really...
Read moreNice breakfast but I have to ask why to add yellow color to your paratha dough? Plz improve the recipe of your chana daal, very ordinary. Can make it a speciality. Also plz use a piece of paper towel to place the paratha so that it can absorb any additional grease. Otherwise nice addition to their restaurant business & a good place to dine in although with a very limited seating capacity. The seats too are not very comfortable for some people though for me it was comfortable. Tea was also good if they are able to maintain its flavour in the future. Good & flavourful tea is rarely found in restaurants but they have taken the lead in serving hot good tea, Mash a Allah. I enjoyed my brunch at Chashni today. Plz keep it up. Today’s visit has changed my good views about your restaurant. So greasy food & you guys seem to be unable to handle so many customers & in order to serve everyone you destroy the order by making it too much oily. Also take too much time in serving food to the people dining in the restaurant. Plz come back to good healthy standards & employ more...
