We have eaten in and do takeout. With our schedule lately, it has been all takeout. The times we have had dinner there we had a great experience. The staff is friendly and a big bowl of fresh tortilla chips is great. When I see the food on a plate, it reminds me of when a friend's mother would serve us dinner, not like a Happy Meal with paper everywhere. Take-home reminds me of my friend's mother again. My lunch bucket would have a PBJ or a bologna sandwich that I had tossed together before running out the door. He would pull out such aromatic food from his lunchbox his mom had packed, which I knew from personal experience was delicious. Everyone knows that nothing is better than a homecooked meal but Amigo sure comes close. I seldom choose what we take home, I let my wife surprise me. Most of the meals are in aluminum pans. If we get home after it cools off, we can put the meals in the oven under low heat while we prep the dinner table. We always put the food on real dinner plates so it looks like we made it ourselves. There is a fast-food restaurant just across the street. A glance at the menu may give you the impression that you could save money. Compare what you get to what Amigo offers. You'll find that the only thing you save is time. That is, only if there isn't a long line. My wife and I are usually the only ones at dinner. We always buy more than enough "just in case" but in reality, it is so we will have leftovers. When we factor in 4 to 6 meals for what we spent (for just the two of us) it is stiff competition for their competitor. Helpful hint: You can order ahead for takeout. They are pretty good about meeting the target time. I have worked in restaurants and I would encourage you to order no more than half an hour before. What sometimes happens is that the cook (or chef) will start unfilled orders if there is a lull, especially when they know they will be covered up very soon. One last thing I want to point out is that the competitor only offers two major menu choices, hard or soft. Everything is based on the same kettle of meat (meatless items excluded of course) Just the wrapping and the toppings vary. Amigo makes each item on their menu to individual specifications. Rats, now I am craving Mexican food! If you like Mexican food, you should try it. If you are Mexican, you won't think it is just like Mom's, but you've had...
Read moreTrying to overcharge here and hope you won't notice. Manager is argumentative. I asked my server for an item on the lunch menu and asked for veggies instead of any meat. She said she could do that. I was charged 2 more dollars than the menu price. When I asked about it she told me she had to ring it up as a half order off the veggie dinner menu. I had already asked for a manager (bc my serhver till then had left me with the check for about 10 minutes). I told the manager about pointing to the item and the story there. I told him I knew veggies cost less than meat so I'd like the price changed. He proceeded to tell me that since my item was grilled it had to be the other price. I did not ask for it grilled and reminded him I had pointed to exactly what I was asking about to my server and was told it could be substituted. He said, "It doesn't matter what you pointed to" so I just cut him off at that rudeness. I insisted on the price listed or he could come my whole meal. They did get by with charging for two drinks, though, and I only noticed later. (Kids meals come with one, my other child had a tea, and I had water.) They're trying to steal money via your check. Better watch it there or maybe just go somewhere else. Food...
Read moreMe and my husband had lunch yesterday and I was debating on posting a review. We were sat pretty quickly and upon seating I noticed several of the servers who had long hair just hanging off there shoulders and not pulled back our server being one of them. She took our drink order and food order and we got our drinks and food in a timely manner. As soon as she sat my food down she took off quickly and I looked down and there was a hair in my cheese sauce on my burrito. I sat there for probably about 5 minutes or so waiting for someone to come check on us bur no one came so I went to the front and got the cashier who got another server who was polite and apologetic and corrected my food. After that we felt like our server was rude and being short when asking if we needed anything else. They did take it off the bill buy when we went to pay we had the cashier put it back on the bill so we wasn't trying to get free food. My thing is I'm in the industry and it blows my mind that servers who handle food and drinks don't pull there hair off there face. I can't tell you how many times I saw them touch there hair and then touch...
