Joanie's Pizza — Restaurant in Chelmsford

TLDR: Wicked good NY style pizza. Take out only. Get the classic cheese or Kickin Chicken and enjoy!

So nice to get a break from all the Greek pizza in the area and cherry on top is this place is great! Came because of the barstool review and it did not disappoint.

This is a take out only joint and is overrun with business because of their recent online virality. So, expect to have to order in person and wait an hour. They're doing this so the pizza remains consistently good and it must be working. Oh and make sure you're not using any sort of apple, Samsung, or Google pay. They don't do any tap payments, just swipe or cash.

The pizza itself is AMAZING. The classic cheese was not too shabby but the Kickin Chicken was probably one of the best buffalo chicken pizzas I've ever had. Not too much sauce or grease on the cheese, perfect amount of wood burn and crisp on the bottom and super tasty sauce and cheese. The Kickin Chicken does not have red sauce which is always my biggest complaint with buffalo pizzas. Super flavorful without being a super overwhelming buffalo profile. Love the fresh parsley on top. Cooked to perfection, delicious chicken, all together delicious.

I would probably have given this a perfect 5 as the pizza is good, except for one issue. I called to order some pizza, was told it would be an hour and a half until I could pick it up. Tons of hype so I wasn’t worried about the wait. Got there exactly an hour and a half later as I was itching for some good pizza and my family was waiting at home. Unfortunately the pizza had clearly been sitting for a while and by the time I got home, about 7 minutes, the pizza was already room temperature. I guess I’m confused. If you going to give a pickup time why not line the pizza up with that. Very disappointing, and very expensive to pay for room temp pizza that’s clearly been sitting on the shelf for a minute. I thought the pizza boxes were cold when I picked them up, but I assumed they had just put the pizzas in. We were so excited and really let down. It’ll be a process to get my family to try again , when three cold pizzas were 60 dollars+. Again probably super...

Don't get me wrong, this is the best pizza in the area. However, when I picked up my pizza, it was COLD. I was waiting for about 10 minutes and was told that it would be ready at the scheduled time (6pm). When it was 6pm, I saw them take 2 pizzas off of the top of the pizza oven. Now, I know that due to the One-Bite Pizza Review this place has BLOWN up in popularity. However, the pizza was almost stone cold when I picked it up.

They should consider how they can bring up the quality of their pizza by using their timing more effectively so that when people are waiting 50 minutes for pizza, they get it FRESH and HOT. It was neither, but it was still BOMB. I will not lie. We recently moved to Dracut and the pizza is NOT great. The pizza at Joanie's is some of the best I've had. I just wish that when I ordered it ahead of time, arrived early, and got it at my chosen time, that it was warm. That is the expectation at other places, no matter how busy...
