As a community we are trying to get answers for the young man who was hired and fired for being given the wrong training information.
My son is devastated (and so am I).
Kalani was hired to work at Five Guys cedarbrook location back in June. He trained at a different location for 2 weeks. He showed up to the new store on the “start date” he was scheduled to work and the store was not opened for business. This was the first week in July.
He reached out to the person who would be his manager “Misty”, and asked when would the store open. She told him on LAST WEEK that the store would open August 8.
His set days to work were FRI, SAT & SUN.
Kalani arrived ready to work TODAY and the manager, MISTY, told him that: he was supposed to continue reporting to Five Guys for training until the Cedarbrook location opened for business. Since he didn’t continue training, he didn’t have a job. “Have a nice day”.
Kalani gave up his position at the salon for this job. He passed over a PYN job because he was excited to work at Five Guys.
As a mom, I called the manager, MISTY, and asked what exactly happened? She gave me the same explanation as she gave Kalani. I asked her if he’s been communicating with you the whole time, why didn’t you mention to him that he forfeited his position? She literally told him last week that the store opened this week. MISTY told me she went to Grant avenue once and the manager told her Kalani stopped coming to training. AGAIN, why didn’t she mention this at least last week when they were in communication? Misty told me that there was some “miscommunication” and several other trainees “misunderstood” and forfeited their job.
Kalani is very intelligent and has no difficulties communicating nor comprehending something as simple as “keep reporting for PAID training until the store opens”! WHY WOULD’NT HE WANT A PAYCHECK AFTER HE GAVE UP HIS JOB AT THE SALON?!
Kalani showed up in uniform ready to work and was humiliated that he had to turn around and go home.
I asked Misty if there was a way Kalani can still have his position. She told me he can apply to work at another location. Her attitude was STANK.
FIVE GUYS YOU NEED TO RE TRAIN MISTY ON HER COMMUNICATION SKILLS. SHE ALSO TRIED TO PLACE THE BLAME ON ANGEL, the manager at Grant Ave. But Misty is the person Kalani was communicating with for almost 2 months.
SHAME ON...
Read moreI just so happen to be parking behind the foot locker that’s a few doors down from this establishment, and started to get out and walk over to five guys for a what I thought was gonna be juicy burger. As I’m getting out my vehicle I see about 2 of their staff members outside smoking marijuana in a KIA. It’s very unprofessional too see especially when I have my kids with me. This is not my first run in with them getting high then going to make our food. Not to mention their black shirt guy with the chipped teeth be smoking and getting high with them! Things like this should not be tolerated in our neighborhood especially when your working. Anyways I took my kids inside to use the rest room because I was no longer interested in the food and immediately I smell an aroma of marijuana threw the halls towards the bathroom. Hopefully I’m able to get in contact with HR because it’s ridiculous it starts with the black shirt if he’s out there smoking with his staff he don’t make it any better....
Read moreI’ve been to this location twice so far and the food has been perfect. On this occasion I was at the front register when an employee that was preparing an order started towards me with his gloves still on to take my order. Another employee stated he would take my order and he immediately took his gloves off so he could work the register. That’s a Five (5) stars in my book. Some places the employees think that those gloves are to be never taken off, touching rags, registers, etc and then touching food. The name on the ticket was James R. Thank you James R!! I also ate in this time and the...
