Went for dinner with my family of 6 lastnight (Sunday, around 7pm). If you’re dining in they give you the “all you can eat menu” but they do have a takeout menu. Im just not sure if they allow you to order that way because we didnt ask.. but I would hope that you can for the sake of them staying in business. Service was just eh/ok—she was nice but not great. Food was good. Price was very good—EXCEPT for the specialty drinks and their unreasonable cost for leaving extra food or taking home extra food. Overall, in order to be 5 stars or be worth another visit— They need to lower their ice content to 50% They need to provide condiments and napkins, without people having to ask, and more than enough—not just the bare minimum. 2-3 napkins/person Sauce for each person Wasabi and ginger for each person. Offer asian/japanese deserts Lower the amount charged for taking home extras food/leaving extra food.
Our in depth experience: The non-fountain drinks are overpriced because they fill the cups up with 75% ice so after a couple sips it’s empty and they dont offer free refills. When I asked for light ice (25%), she said okay but didn’t mark it down on her tablet so i received a cup full of ice and barely any drink. The drink didn’t even get me past appetizers. In addition to the the server not obliging by my drink order, we had to keep asking for things like napkins, sauce/condiments, cutlery, etc. She was extremely stingy with providing the things that make it comfortable and enjoyable to eat there. She initially only gave 1 napkin per person and no sauces/condiments. She only provided empty ramekins for soy sauce that was on the table. When we asked for spicy mayo and siracha she provided 2 small ramekins of each… for a table of 6. The place seemed clean — there wasn’t food on the floor, our table & seats were clean. However, whatever they use to clean the table made the table sticky/tacky. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu. The food was delicious, except the shrimp shu mai and gyoza dumplings. I wouldn’t recommend wasting stomach space on them. However, the lemon pepper chicken, fried jalapeño, yellow tail, and edamame were great. The appetizer portions are portioned for up to 3 people, if you’re ordering multiple things. The entrees are portioned as regular size entrees, not large but not small like the appetizers. So dont fill up on apps if you’re planning on an entree. The deserts do not match the type of cuisine. Instead of Japanese or other asian style deserts, they’re serving italian? Very weird and off-putting. We were hoping for some green tea/matcha or red bean ice cream, mochi, or mango with coconut sticky rice, etc. They are offering tiramisu, chocolate lava cake, and cheesecake. We did try the pistachio cheesecake and that was pretty good but just didnt “go” with sushi. We didn’t realize the sushi would be regular size rolls with 8+ pieces. So we ordered a few and had leftovers. We had at least 6 rolls of 8 left. The waitress tried to charge us $1 per sushi piece to take it home. (6x8=$48) even though we were already charged the extra cost for ordering the specialty rolls. Ridiculous. Most places charge by weight, and if they were gona do that, then remove the extra charge for...
Read moreWe visited Sushi Boss on Sunday around 7:45PM. The front of house staff was friendly, and the place had good vibes. However, there were numerous problems with our visit.
First, we placed appetizers and received those almost immediately. This had our hopes high for the evening. About 30 minutes in, we placed our first sushi order. This took an incredibly long time to get out. Around 8:45pm, our waitress (who hadn’t checked on us in over half an hour) came by to see if we wanted anymore food. We explained we still hadn’t gotten our sushi, despite other tables around us getting literal sushi boats.
When the food finally came out (around 9:00), the rolls were not correct. My sister doesn’t eat raw fish, and had gotten the chicken tempura rolls. She ordered 2, and only 1 had come out. This was particularly upsetting because it was a pretty small roll overall. We had asked if there was a way to get the second roll, and our waitress explained they had run out of sushi rice and it would be at least another 30 minutes for rolls to come out!
My sister ended up getting the chicken hibachi, which was tasty overall but had a lot of really squishy bits. Fast forward 24 hours, she had a terrible case of food poisoning. She was the only one who had the chicken in our group, and the rest of us were fine, so we feel like it had to be the weird end of night chicken she had gotten.
I really wanted to like this place, but it was quite a hassle to get refills on drinks, the timing was poor, and my sister getting sick was the cherry on top. Plus one star for the sushi we did have being really good, just wish we could have...
Read moreVisited for my birthday when we heard about the grand opening. Food was pretty good, no complaints and I would come back again. You can tell some food is just boxed commercial food but I found it pretty tastey. The menu structure was pretty confusing at first which was the biggest obstacle. They give you an all you can eat menu when you sit that specifies that you will be charged for any left over food by weight but it doesn't specify how much that costs. Same goes for children as well but the children's menu items is nothing more than chicken nuggets and fries. There is a separate menu that we were eventually given with just standard per item pricing. That menu had children's hibachi on it for the kids which was a way better option. It would be wise to at least clarify the two different menu's as some people don't come for the all you can eat option. Serving staff was good overall and our waitress came back pretty regularly to check on us. It seems like they have some kinks to work out with the two different menus as an all you can eat style restaurant can be very costly with big groups. Looking forward to going back again and I hope they continue to...
