I’d have given 0 stars if I could. Experience started great. The host was very sweet, quick to greet us, even asked us if where she sat us was okay. Which was a generic booth in an empty section. Waitress came over right away. I’m a server, it’s off putting to me when I’m out to eat and the server doesn’t greet the table like she’s happy to be there. That’s what the guests quite literally are paying US for. Anyway, she took the drink order and despite her empty section, she asked us if we were ready to order. This wouldn’t have been a big deal, if we weren’t still in the physical act of sitting down and getting situated before she came over. Brings the drinks back, again in a rush to get the order but we didn’t think much of it as we already knew anyway. This was the last time we spoke to our server for the remainder of the experience. We ordered caramel French toast, and their omelet special. Food was brought out cold, and didn’t look good. We’re flexible and it was 8:30pm so we gave it a try. The omelet which featured a variety of different toppings was essentially a thin scrambled egg sack stuffed with an entire can of black beans, topped with tasteless pico de gallo. The caramel French toast was beyond disappointing, and I still feel like that’s a dramatic understatement. “Caramel Challah French Toast” …loosely translates to cold, under cooked egg bread. (Not Challah), topped with the star of the show…THE CARAMEL. Plot twist, there’s in fact so little caramel on the cold egg bread that they might as well have not put it on at all. I mean, this line of caramel drizzle was thinner then .07 led in your mechanical pencil, my friends. Again, being flexible, I told my husband that it’s no big deal, when the server stops back to check in I’ll just ask for some extra caramel, and maybe another drink too. And the butter it advertised but didn’t come with. Well, I’ll re-phrase…I WOULD HAVE been able to ask for those things, if the server ever returned back to our table for the entire remainder of the experience. Instead, she walked about her section, screaming across the diner at her sister to check something on her car, and to “just do it now.”, socializing with the other two tables that were sat shortly after us, She was so social in fact, that she spent the entire time we were there, chatting it up about her car issues with her table directly next to me. My dish was untouched, hands folded on the table waiting for her as my husband ate his ENTIRE meal, so it wouldn’t get even more cold bc had he waited it would’ve been. He also asked for a white toast, and still got the whole grain he asked to swap out. It would have been fine, and easy to fix, If the server bothered to check on us. The real kicker was this. My husband finished and stacked his plates on the end of the table. She got our hopes up, by walking toward us, only to be stopped by the other table to ask her the detailed story about her car issues stated previously. Instead of telling them she would come back after she’s check in everyone, she proceeded to spent the next 5 minutes in a detailed conversation with the table next to us. FINALLY comes to the table, and she says and I quote: “ya need a box?” Pointing at my untouched food. Girl…what??? I honestly was and still am just so completely baffled. Then tells me the total and stood there (3 feet away, closer than she was the entire time I was there), and had true audacity to ask me if I needed change back. Yes, every penny. The ENTITLEMENT and unprofessionalism was unlike anything I have ever witnessed before. Makes you regret going out and wasting money. (Never ate that cold egg bread btw). She did absolutely nothing for us, including bringing us the food which is literally a whole part of the servers job, to provide quality service….but you are asking me if I need change? Yes, yes I do. Just unreal. Don’t waste your time or money, especially if you’re hungry. Clientele was also unbearable. Screaming obnoxious kids with no home training& Loud mouthed girls all talking over...
Read moreSuper cute and styled like an iconic old school diner, we tried this spot the very first week we moved to Cherry Hill from out of state! We got brunch since we hadn’t unpacked much of anything for the kitchen. We expected the traditional greasy spoon menu, but this menu is different. I do love that they seem to take significant measures to use locally sourced ingredients when possible.
But that has created a strange dichotomy within the diner. The atmosphere and initial vibe screams ‘fun old school chill vibes’ with pancakes and sausage and burgers for cheap served by friendly servers who get to know the regulars and where it’s almost impossible to get out without running into a friend or two! But that’s not actually the vibe here. But I’ll get to that…
Breakfast and sandwiches are by far their best options. It’s not your typical greasy spoon - it’s a bit elevated in their approach. I’m a diner fanatic, so not a huge fan of this weird fusion. Locally sourced ingredients, however, are a massive plus & the reason they were able to bump up to 4 stars under the Food rating - in spite of the issues & surprisingly high price point.
Unfortunately, much of their “classic” menu is mediocre. I don’t consider menu choices like lamb meatballs, shakshuka, or quinoa farro bowls classic diner fare at all. Shakshuka is amazing, but it belongs in a Moroccan or Tunisian restaurant - not an American retro styled comfort spot.
I had the meatloaf tonight and it was fine. I cleaned my plate, so clearly it wasn’t total trash. But it was pretty underwhelming. It was kind of thin and a bit dry, almost like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a very long time or something.
The meatloaf itself was okay. Gravies are a gamble for me, so I always order mine on the side & so glad I did! The gravy was lumpy, cold & had a terrible texture. So I simply had the meatloaf naked. It was pretty bland, but w/a good amount of salt&pepper, it wasn’t the worst meatloaf I’ve ever had. It also wasn’t the best. And for $20 just for the entree…. It should have been absolutely fantastic!
The vegetable medley was soggy & overcooked - what few vegetables there actually were. I had a big scoop of what looked like canned corn dumped on the plate & then literally ONE floret of broccoli, one cauliflower, maybe 4-5 limp snow peas, some weird black things I couldn’t identify (burned carrots?), & THAT WAS IT!! I ate them because I was starving, but it wasn’t great.
The meatloaf is supposed to come w/ a nice big serving of fresh mashed Yukon gold potatoes, but I initially didn’t see any on the plate. It wasnt until I was inspecting the meatloaf that I realized it was smooshed down on top of what was maybe 1/3 cup of mashed potatoes. The potatoes were pretty good, so I was def more than a little irked that I got so little.
Our waitress was okay. She barely came to the table & we had to constantly flag her down/ask her for refills or things like butter & ketchup. She wasnt chatty or outgoing & it def felt like we were keeping her from something or somewhere better.
We weren’t finished eating & were actually planning on getting dessert, but she breezed over to the table & laid a slip of paper down & said “When you’re ready” as she was walking away. We actually had to call after her & say we weren’t finished! She was like “Oh ok. So what can I get you for dessert.” It was very uncomfortable & a bit infuriating as someone who started waited tables in high school & also tended bar through college & for years after! Not cool. At all!
Bottom line: If we ever return, it will be only for their all day breakfast or for their sandwiches & burgers. They’re decent choices & you won’t regret ANY breakfast dish! And the milkshakes are def awesome! The prices are too high for this kind of place & the weird fusion thing is off putting. I will avoid that waitress at all costs in the future & if I have another server like her, we definitely...

Earlier this year, my wife and I had tried the Silver Diner for the first time at one of their locations near the DC area. Since we were close to home and didn't want to miss football Sunday, we decided to give the Cherry Hill location a try.
As we usually do, my wife and I split two dishes, and since it was brunch, we tried both a sweet and a savory dish.
Dish 1: Bison huevos rancheros.
The bison was lean and flavorful, and was the star of the show of this dish. Oaxaca cheese was a unique add and was light and creamy. Wheat tortillas had great crunch as well. However, the eggs were overdone. A runny yoke would have taken the dish to the next level.
Dish 2: Red white and blue french toast.
Berries and cinnamon cream sauce were delicious combinations on the French toast. Berries were fresh and tart adding much needed acid. Chocolate drizzle added a nice bittersweet note as well. However, we both agreed that the bread itself was a bit dry and needed to be soaked a bit longer.
Side dish: home fries and scrapple
Home fries paired great with rancheros but were also dry and lacked seasoning. It felt like they should have come with the rancheros.
Scrapple is a long-time favorite of mine. It had the perfect crispy outside and soft inside scrapple lovers like me love! Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the meal.
Drinks
My wife had coffee with her meal, which she said was mentionably good and better than expected. (You do get bottomless coffee refills but we had to ask and only got a refill for it once.)
Miscellaneous
Service was good but not excellent. Our food was brought out promptly but some of our eggs weren't and we had to ask for more coffee. Floor and tables were clean, but the bathrooms were not.
Overall
A bit pricey at $28 per person (including a 20% tip). Feels like we could have paid about $20 less for a breakfast that was almost as good close to home. Still a pretty good overall experience, but our experience at the DC location was...
