Let me start by saying that this is a review of Bahama Breeze in the Cherry Hill Mall. Why? In the past year, I have received 3 gift cards for The Olive Garden. I really don't like the Olive Garden, so when I saw that they are owned by the same restaurant group as Bahama Breeze and the Longhorn Steakhouse, it was a relief. I remember liking some of the foods at Bahama Breeze, so we decided to go back and see what it was like after a 10-plus year hiatus.
To try and get the most out of the gift card, we visited during happy hour, which runs from 4PM - 6PM, Monday-Friday. (If you're really happy, they have a Sunday - Thursday 9PM - 11PM happy hour as well.) Why is it better to go during happy hour? If you're not sure about a place, it's the cheapest way to try it out; no harm done.
One good thing about BB is to get the happy hour benefits here, you don't have to sit at the bar, whereas at other restaurants like Tommy's, it's mandatory. I must offer an apology to the BB staff because I've passed it over as an option for outings because I thought it was outdated and corny. However, I didn't know that visiting this outdated and corny restaurant could be so much fun.
Back to the happy hour, the HH crowd can be a good way to find out how popular places are because they usually have regulars who will go there even if no one else cares about it. And, if the restaurant is packed at happy hour, it's probably going to be a good time. So, we decided to go on a Friday night, and as we had hoped, it was packed. Before we found out about the full restaurant HH benefits, we waited for seats at the bar and almost missed the 6PM cutoff. Good thing we didn't have to do this again on future visits.
Backing up for a second to provide context, this place sits on the perimeter of the Cherry Hill Mall facing Rt. 38. The mall itself is always packed and even at midday on a Wednesday, it's hard to find a decent parking space. So, add that mall dynamic to the happy hour, and there's a good chance it's going to be hard to get in, but it will still be worth it if you make it for HH.
So, what do they offer during happy hour? There are several options for food and drink items that cost between $5-$15 dollars. Let's start with the alcohol-based drinks (I mean, why would you fight the happy hour crowd for a Coke, right?). They offer $4, beers, $5 "well" drinks, which start with vodka, rum, tequila, whiskey or gin; $6 specialty cocktails, and $7 wine. Yep! In 2025, you can still get decent drinks for under $10. Now, it would stand to reason to think that the well drinks would be watered down and not worth drinking, BUT, some of the bartenders have been known to be good to the customers...So, we ordered lemon drops, with vodka. At BB, they are made as martinis instead of shots. They are really lemonade-y with vodka and a sugared rim. Tasty and well worth the $5. Beer choices are scant, but the Aruba Red is a decent amber ale. (The last time I was there, I missed the happy hour and ordered the Tito’s Beachside Strawberry Breeze, which was really tasty because of the strawberry bits in the lemonade.)
For HH food, we usually order the Jamaican Jerk Wings or the Beef Empanadas, and if we're really hungry, we add a house salad. The jerk wings and salad are what I remember the best from 10+ years ago. Unfortunately, the wings I remember were pretty spicy and these are not. They are still crispy, small, and tasty, and come with a side of tamarind dipping sauce, but they could really use a bigger dose of heat and Jerk flavor. They're always piping hot when they arrive, so be patient so as not to burn your mouth and fingers.
The Beef Empanadas are not what I think of when I want empanadas, but they're pretty good. The filling is a bit of a mystery, but the pastry is flaky and crispy and pleasant. Both items are good HH bites to pair with the mixed drinks and beer.
So, if you're bored with the usual HH places, and or you want to save a few dollars go to Bahama Breeze. Just be patient with finding...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Bahama breeze at cherry hill nj for our anniversary We went in comfortable clothing to go because it was hot out. We go in and wait about 15 to 20 minutes to go to the table which my husband made reservations ahead of time. We sit down and the waiter came back introduce himself and was very nice, so he said he will give us a few minutes & he came back to see if we were ready to order, he did that three times to fast so my husband was annoyed because the waiter stood there waiting for him to tell him his order .So he ordered the salmon .Then I asked for a drink, which it was a margarita to taste for the first time. My husband tells me this waiter hasn’t even offer us any water, So I asked the waiter for water, Now, after a half hour or so we get our food , my husband got his meal hot but he didn’t get his cranberry juice he that asked the waiter for. As for my steak and veggies they were hot, but my mashed potatoes was cold And I didn’t get my shrimp that came with the meal so I told the waiter & he sent it back the mash potatoes , which he could of just heated them up but no he said he will get me a new one which I don’t like doing & I told the waiter about and he said it will be OK nothing will happen to my mashed potatoes. I waited about 20 minutes or so for them to bring me my mashed potatoes when I finally get it from the manager with the braids who brings it to me and with a smile she says here’s your mash potatoes, when I taste it it’s full of salt & I’m still waiting for my shrimp so I told my waiter. So he sends the mash potatoes back then I asked where’s my shrimp that comes with the meal? Meantime I’m almost done my steak and my veggies I finished eating . I finally get my shrimp that took at least 20 minutes and I shared it with my husband and now I’m waiting for the mashed potatoes for the third time , which I told the waiter to forget about the mashed potatoes, Now they bring me the mashed potatoes anyway and my Husband still didn’t get his cranberry juice from the waiter. My husband tells me not to say anything So I didn’t but trust me I wanted to say something so bad! Then the waiter asked us if we want dessert we said no thank you!! Really Desert!!! So now the waiter brings the check, my husband says now you think the manager or the waiter would’ve took a percentage off the bill for what I went through. Nope she & the waiter just gave us the whole total & my husband paid it & gave the waiter a $20 tip. My husband and I said to each other we should of went to Capital Grill. They always gave us the best service & never had our food cold & never had to send our food back or even ask for water. Whatever we ordered or asked for we got it. & they are very polite. We even told our waiter at Bahamas breeze and he said yes they got great service there and I said...
Read moreMy wife and I and cousin went here for lunch yesterday 11/12/2023 right after church, our server was MIKE he was TOP TIER, he needs to have other staff shadow him he was excellent , the reason i gave a 1 star was because of CHRIS he was the food server. He dropped off food and Lied on my wife saying she blew smoke in his face from her vape, my wife moved our vape to put behind the pocketbook didn't once smoke the vape in front of him he lied on her saying she blew it in his face and then said he could feel it going down his lungs. not once did smoke come from her mouth at all while he was at the table. When we confronted him he threw his hands to the air and walked away, he then told our server MIKE my wife blew smoke in his face!!!!!! Still lied on my wife which we said run the tape back and watch it. I then asked for the manager the manager came her name was Arron ! she was wonderful she took appetizers off our menu and gave dessert, but I wanted the manager because the employee CHRIS was lying on my wife there customer and he needed to be dealt with , CHRIS needs to be fired because of lying like that, this situation could have went another way. I felt like it was racially profiling because we were BLACK! and he seen her move the vape off the table and moved it by the pocketbook. WASNT COOL at all. BUT Arron did let us know she was going to handle it but I feel like that was uncomfortable to be looked at in that way. Me and my wife always come here to get there Long Island Ice Teas and the three cheese crab dip, firer cracker shrimp and jerk shrimp pasta. We always come there for happy hour and the same thing all the time ! And never have ANY ISSUES !!!! So thanks to Chris for stating that Lie on my WIFE because you made us feel un comfortable.
