DOMOISHI — Restaurant in Chesapeake

We ordered 2 poké bowls and 2 boba slushes that looked more beautiful and better prepared than any other Domoishi I’ve been to in Virginia Beach or Norfolk.

But driving in Chesapeake is treacherous.

We ordered a salmon and tuna poké bowl with brown rice and mixed greens, and a spicy tuna with salmon bowl with sushi rice and mixed greens, both bowls with nearly all the toppings. About $30 bucks, they were really nice portions though, and prepared just perfectly--when we went it was a Filipino lady who prepared it. We had a great coversation.

But driving in Chesapeake...everytime...is enough to ruin your day.

We had a taro slush ‘less sweet’ with brown sugar boba—really rich taro flavor, good boba, and a Thai tea boba slush with honey boba. The honey boba is more floral. I liked brown sugar boba better. And it tasted clean! Other domoishi locations taste like the plastic cup it comes in. About $14 total.

But driving in Chesapeake is to take your life out of your hands and put it into the four winds. This is the only reason I probably will never make it to this location again.

We were able to eat outside with our dog. Always a win.

But due to the absolute nightmare of driving Chesapeake’s interstate—which google maps doesn’t have the most detailed info on—he threw up on the ride home.

My friends and I were really looking forward to grabbing boba and food from Demoishi, especially after reading great things and seeing that they’re open until 9 PM—both online and clearly posted on the door. But when we showed up at 8:45 PM, the doors were locked, the sign was off, and the staff inside simply watched us try to enter without acknowledging us at all.

It’s frustrating when a business advertises one thing but operates however they feel like. In a time when every guest counts and spending habits are more cautious, turning away customers early—without explanation—just feels careless. Thankfully, CAVA next door was still open and happy to serve us.

We were genuinely excited to get Demoishi, but this left a sour taste before we ever got to try anything. Hopefully management takes this seriously, because inconsistent hours and poor service like this drive...

This is such an amazing establishment! It was my first time dining here and I must say that I had a great experience. It was very easy to place my order on the tablet that they had set up and once it was placed it was sent right over to the staff. The staff there was so polite, friendly, and extremely sweet! We did not have to wait long to receive our food and the staff member that provided it to us was very kind. I ordered the Japanese ramen bowl with shrimp and it was absolutely amazing! My base was the miso soup. It was a perfect portion size for the amount that I paid and I also ordered the fruit drinks that they have. I most certainly will be returning to this establishment and would love to try other things! My friend that was able to come with me tried the poke bowl and loved it!
