🍣 Discover Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse in Chesapeake! 🍱 Kyoto offers an enticing hibachi experience and a sushi bar that you won't want to miss. I decided to explore their sushi selection, and I was thoroughly impressed! The sushi was not only delicious but also beautifully plated. With a variety of specialty rolls to choose from, there's something for everyone. Their all-day special is a great deal, including soup, salad, and two specialty rolls. I tried the Mango Passion Roll, featuring mango, avocado, cucumber, crab, and shrimp wrapped in a soy wrap with a special sauce. The Christmas Tree Roll was equally delightful with shrimp tempura, cream cheese, crab meat, avocado, and masago, all topped with a special sauce. 📍 1412 Greenbrier Pkwy #129, Chesapeake, VA 23320 If you're in the Chesapeake area, make sure to check out Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse for a fantastic sushi experience! 🍣✨ #KyotoJapaneseSteakhouse #ChesapeakeEats #SushiLovers #FoodReview

I have not been here in quite a few years, living out of town, we dont get here often, though you may walk in and think .. it's a bit outdated interior wise, do not let that be a turn off, sure a facelift would make it more appealing, but the food was better than decorating, and prefer great food over that anyday.. for in all honesty, it was awesome, and delicious treat. Celebrating a special occasion, I'm so glad we decided to reserve a table and dine..no disappointment here, the food.. from the fresh tasty sushi , to the hibachi chicken , best fried rice and egg rolls I've ate in years.. and, they so kindly accommodated my diet restrictions, and that I" so appreciated. The waitress was patient, friendly, knew the menu ( thank you ) checked on us as we dined, but not to much to be overbearing, and a shout out to the bartender, she was great... funny, kind and answering my questions with humor, making recommendations, flaming Volcano ' great drink for a celebration and by the way, she makes a awesome " Pina Colada " the best I've had ever., was like dessert and then some.... I look forward to future better health and celebrating (I hope for more years) to come in and enjoy the great food and staff.. food plentiful, tasting so good, very obvious the oil they cook with is definitely not old and the flavor of all we ate reflected this. Keep up the wonderful cooking and I definitely recommend you visit and dine in,*** check there online website as it is very informative, also if a weekend, I recommend you call in to reserve a table, we did and was seated promptly, and we did notice a few others who came in without, who had a 30 or more wait.. so its well worth the quick call , they hold your reservation for 10 mins ,so dont be late. Thank you again for the memorable dining experience and wishing you a new year of continued prosperity.

My friend and I came here for lunch today and was told by the hostess that the wait would be about 10-15 minutes. We said okay. It was 11:50 at that time. A little after 12, I asked again because I wanted a more accurate time (my friend had somewhere to be and we really didn’t expect to be waiting as long since we were told 10-15 mins). The hostess was then very rude and notified us that she can’t do anything about them only having one server.

Having one server is an issue for a place like that but my reason for asking was to see how long we really had to wait and if my friend still wanted to. I am happy that although I was hungry I did not return the rude energy she gave me. We finally are seated about 23 minutes into waiting.

Our table was dirty. I had to flag down one of the busboys to have them clean it. The server took forever to come to the table. I understand they are spread thin, but once the server came, she didn’t acknowledge that there was a child with us and did not make sure they took an order for the child. This caused my friend to have to share her food, which was something she didn’t plan to do. The server also didn’t tell us that for lunch we are only allowed one item for hibachi (soup or salad). I mention this because we received soup that wasn’t miso soup and once we finally flagged her back down at the end is when we were told about this. The cook made the ordeal bearable and thankfully, the food was good.

This whole experience gave me the vibe that this place doesn’t care about the quality of service they give; they only want your money. The likelihood of me coming here again or recommending this place are...

Not as good as it used to be but still a decent dinner and show. The restaurant is very worn down, it hasn't had any sort of renovations/upgrades in the 15 years I've been coming here. Bowls, plates, spoons, carpet, chairs, all still the same. You can tell from how worn all of it is, including the bowls, and they're plastic (actually everything aside from the forks are) so if that's a concern for you definitely avoid.

We sometimes have excessively long wait times if we're the first to be seated at a table. They should not have made us wait for the entire table to fill this last time. We got there about 7:20 ,didnt get app until 8, and didn't leave until after 8:45, with no lingering. Just a really long time especially when you're paying for a sitter.

Floors (very worn down carpet) are always a little bit sticky, same with the table and chairs.

Hvac intake vents always look dirty, as well.

They also recently switched from coke to pepsi which was very disappointing but at least they got new cups from pepsi for it.

4 stars for the food - again, not as good as it used to be and noticeably smaller portions.

3 stars for service - servers were quite attentive but we should not have had such a long wait time to food. Do not recommend for smaller groups/couples because of this. 3 stars for the chef - they're just not as enthusiastic as they used to be.

1 star for atmosphere - as addressed, it's very run down and just feels (and looks) dirty.

Japanese egg rolls are still great, highly...
