Great location. Very moderate pricing. Good food. Very attentive wait staff. The Happy Hour specials are great. Me and a friend go here pretty regular and I can tell you for sure that you'll get your belly full and your want for spirits satisfied at a better than expected price!! It would be awesome if they'd expand their menu selections but what they have is very good. Stop in sometime...you'll be glad you did. The calamari is of the best I've had in Hampton Roads!! Update 9/11/18 After patronizing this location for several years I have come to the conclusion that their service is dropping off, the wait staff has become inept and pursue only those that they perceived to be heavy tippers and the attentiveness of management is nil to none. I had a situation recently where I inadvertently left my credit card there I realize this on the way home proceeded to call Woody's many, many, many times in a row. After 43 attempts to get through via phone call, I got through on 2 calls. (Many attempts and connected once, then another call to follow-up. The wait staff that answered the phone when I explained what I had done said that they would go check and immediately hung up the phone they did not know what they were looking for other than a credit card. Had no way to call me back. After again going through the hassle of trying to get through another waitress answered the phone and absolutely refused to get the manager's attention because he was quote / end quote "in a meeting with a waitress and cannot be disturbed". I arrived back found my credit card still sitting on a table where the receipt had been left. I find this incredible in that over 35 minutes had elapsed. I took the time to again contact Big Woody's a week later to let the manager know that I would pay for my meal and give the waitress the tip that she had earned however I've seen no difference and what's going on only that the wait staff will usually walk by unless they know someone very well or they have to engage you as a patron. Coupled with the menu prices that has gone up subtly the lack of attentive waitstaff any longer and a menu that rarely if ever changes I feel that Big Woody's would be best closed in as much as they are only there not to leave a lasting good memory but a sign of the times and how they have changed for the worst on...
Read moreI come here almost everyday. I have the same routine, Wake up, grab beer, grab rear, shave beard, and put on some scene gear. Then I make my way to Woody’s. Today was a Tuesday, which means they had tacos. As I was walking in, I noticed a mysterious man coming in as well. I’ve seen him here before, but today he seemed different, almost seemed angry. I brushed off the thought and sat myself. I placed my order with the waitress, I got tacos obviously. I patiently waited for my tacos and when I received my tacos, I dug right in. I pounded all three tacos and sipped on my beverage. After a while, I started feeling super sick. I started sweating and my tongue started getting itchy. I looked down at my taco crumbs and noticed a little piece of tomato. I thought to myself, “How did I not notice there was tomatoes on my tacos”. At this point I started to panic. I needed to find out who was responsible for this. So I proceeded to stand up angrily and charge my way to the kitchen. I slam through the kitchen doors to see the mysterious man making the tacos. I run up to him and start screaming at him. He starts to cry and apologize, but an apology wasn’t enough. I told him to meet me outside because we were going to throw hands. On my way out to the parking lot, I passed out. I don’t remember clearly but all I remember was waking up in the hospital with the mysterious holding my hand. He explained on his way to the parking lot that he saw me on the ground and picked me up and ran me to the hospital. He said he only stayed to make sure I was okay and apologize again. I also apologize for how angry I got and told him I wasn’t mad anymore. We said our goodbyes and he began to leave, before we left the hospital room I stopped him. I had to know his name. I asked “Well can I at least know my hero’s name?” He looked at me, smirked, and told me his name was Gerik, and...
Read moreI have eaten here on several occasions and the food has always been excellent. However, my last experience was absolutely horrible! My boyfriend and I ate here last Saturday (4/21) for the all you can eat wings special. We arrived around 3pm and it wasn't very busy so we were expecting somewhat fast service. Unfortunately, our waitress was extremely neglectful to our table and we ended up not having a great time. We waited for about 45 mins-1 hour for our first order of wings.... Mine were delicious but my boyfriend said his were cold. Our waitress never once apologized or explained the wait or even asked us how our food was. We waited a long time for her to come back to our table to refill our drinks and to place another order (in the entire time that we stayed there, our waitress only refilled our drinks once I believe). We ended up leaving around 4:45 and had only placed 2 orders of wings because of how slow the service was. Second order that came around, my wings were cold. We had to ask another waitress to ring us up because our waitress took 15 mins to take our card after we said we were ready to check out. When we asked another waitress, she conveniently turned up in time. Another thing that bothered me a lot, was that every time she brought our food, she practically shoved it at us and ran off before we could say much of anything. I wish I had remembered her name because honestly, we had a terrible time due to her negligence. She had blonde hair and was wearing dark sunglasses. Our service was so slow and disappointing that after placing those 2 orders, we just left. Hopefully, our next visit in will be better, but I feel like someone definitely needs to have a chat with that waitress about checking on...
