My sister and I were returning home from New Hampshire on, coincidentally, Valentine's Day. She suggested we dine at Vespucci's, where she's eaten on multiple occasions, and I was all for trying a place I'd never eaten in before. Upon entering, the hostess greeted us and asked if we had reservations. I thought that an odd question, since it was a Tuesday, and they didn't appear to be very busy. It never dawned on me that it was Valentine's Day. She seated us in a nice booth. Upon first glance at the menu, I immediately noticed a special of baked halibut with lobster sauce and lobster meat, with baby asparagus and mashed sweet potatoes. That sold it! I never even looked at the rest of the menu, except to see what appetizers and soups they offered. My sister had decided to have a small veggie pizza. We had an order of fried calamari that was very lightly breaded, and cooked to perfection, with a nice marinara sauce. I chose a bowl of chicken tortellini soup that had a broth with a lot of flavor, without being too salty, and lots of fresh carrots, celery, and nice chunks of chicken and some tortellini. Excellent soup! When my main dish was served, I was pleasantly surprised by both the large size of the portion of halibut and the sizeable amount of lobster meat as well. I can only describe the perfectly cooked, moist and flaky halibut and accompanying lobster as "heavenly". The asparagus, which I'm not usually a big fan of was both tender, and not woody as can often be the case. I devoured it, along with the halibut and lobster meat. I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes, but sampled them. They were well prepared, with a house made waffle potato chip stuck into the pile that made a very nice presentation. My sister described her "small", 12" pizza as being "delightful". It looked as good as she described, though I was too full to sample it. Service was very prompt, friendly, and professional. I'm really glad my sister suggested Vespucci's, and since it is only a few miles from where I live, I definitely see...
Read moreSome of the best Italian food I have eaten in years. Incredible menu, great prices, and they take food prep seriously based on what is served. The bread has nice crust, comes out warm and is tasty and comes with olive oil, garlic, green pepper dipping sauce. I have ordered the Chicken Francese and Chicken Limone. Light seasoned egg batter, 2 pieces of chicken breast served with mashed potatoes, green beans, salad. They will make it with fresh squeezed lemon if you ask instead of bottled lemon juice but either way is tasty. The mixed salad is great, no iceberg, nice mixed greens and the house dressing is very tasty. Salad has red cabbage, varied lettuce, black olives, tomatoes, carrots. The entree is large enough for 2 meals. Mash potatoes are creamy with lots of flavor. They don't over salt which is important to me. Really good chicken tortellini soup. Great wine/drink list. I drive over 30 miles to get there, but well worth it. Attentive and helpful waitstaff. Hope to try the pizza and some of their unique pasta dishes in the future.
3/4/25 update Have tried their pizza since my earlier visit. Great crust and sauce. Not overcooked with burnt crust - loved it. This past weekend tried the Chicken Scarpariello - OUTSTANDING. Fresh mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, garlic and hot peppers in a really tasty Marsala sauce. Absolutely loved it, wasn't too hot from the peppers which add a nice zing to the dish. Now my...
Read moreMy first time at an Italian restaurant that’s my cousins favorite haunt. Our waitress was fantastic, very sensitive to all our needs, yet not interrupting us unnecessarily as we were clearly a family reunion gathering. The entrees were huge. Not my preferred way of eating, but appreciated by the men. I liked my appetizer of fried squash blossoms, my beet & goat cheese salad with fresh tuna, and the garlic/scallion oil for our bread was very nice. I think some of the entrees were not as tasty as they could have been for that price. My spouses pasta & fish dish was quite flavorless in spite of all the shellfish jumbled on it over the risotto. I did ask that the two huge flat screen tv’s be turned off while we tried to eat in peace! I get that one end of the restaurant is a pizza parlor, but our meal was supposed to be a delicious, celebration of each other and I wanted to be able to relax and hear my family speak. The waitress was sympathetic and allowed us about an hour of dining room quiet before another staff person returned it to a bar style free for all. If I ever come again I will try the farthest dining room to see if it’s quieter and calmer for...
