We went last night at 8:45 for dinner; the place closes at 10 so I knew we needed to be in an out of the place. We wouldn’t have even gone that late but my mom just got into town and wanted to buy her friend dinner for picking her up from the airport. When we walked in we were greeted warmly and I apologized for walking in so late. The waiter the whole time was very helpful, courteous and expedient. He walked our friend through what she should order. When our drinks came to the table, I found a big black hunk in the half pitcher of margaritas. I fished it out, I figured the booze probably killed whatever it was and didn’t want to make a scene complaining about it. My mom ordered fajitas with three meats and sides of beans and rice. The portion was supposed to be fore one person but it was a massive mountain of meat and cheese. It was completely layered in cheese. Not just sprinkled on top, the cheese was mixed throughout the whole dish. When I order fajitas, if there is cheese at all, it’s usually just on top. The dish was also soggy and lifeless albeit screaming hot. The sides were lukewarm. After each of the party members tested the entree, we all agreed that none of us wanted to take it home because it was gross. This is when we flagged down the waiter. We politely told the young man what the deal was and he apologized and said he would talk to management. He came back and told us that the menu stated that the fajitas came with cheese. We again reiterated that it wasn’t edible and we would like it taken off of the bill and that we would even pay for the sides but not the plate of meat mountain. We thought that made sense as a compromise because I know that’s them losing money on the item and we felt bad. The waiter went back to his boss for the second time, and came back with another round of dismissals. His reasoning this time was that his boss said that lots of people really like cheese and that’s the way they make the item at this place and we could have a box to take it home if we wanted. We told him for the second time that’s not acceptable and the whole point was that we didn’t want to eat it. The plate of food was intact, we weren’t trying to scam them or get a free meal. We weren’t offered a replacement entree either, it was simply too bad so sad. After being told this information we said for the third time, that’s not acceptable and at this point we were rightly confused and insulted. The waiter apologized again and went to tell his boss. After that the owner comes over to our table to talk to us about what was going on. He asked what was the problem and we laid it out for him. My mom being pretty annoyed at this point laid it on him that the food was gross and she wasn’t paying for it end of story. We would pay for the sides and everything else we had ordered but the plate was gross and the thing floating in our drinks and everything else. The man immediately told us that we are paying for it or he was calling the cops. He laughed at us and said he’s called them before and he knows his rights. Calling the police on three women, two of which were elderly, over $10. Sending the server to deal with a complaint multiple times to the same table was unprofessional and rude. I felt so bad for the guy waiting on us because he shouldn’t have had to be in that position to begin with. After the second time he went to talk to the boss, the boss should have came over to cool down the situation then. Instead they turned off the music at 9:40 to tell us to GTFO when we were still discussing the issue with the meal and then tried to threaten us by calling the cops. Do...
Read moreAte dinner at Charro last night with my family and some friends. We’ve been coming for years at least once a month. After last night, we won’t be coming back.
All the food came out except for my wife’s. Nothing was said, just brought the food out and left. When the waitress came back again, we asked about my wife’s dinner. She told us someone else took her dinner on accident. She finally brought out a meal when most of the table was done with their meals. What was brought out was not her meal. About 15 minutes later (with the rest of the table done with their meals), her meal finally comes out.
We get our bill for the night with additional drinks added to the bill (we knew how many we had because throughout the meal not one dish or glass was cleared from the table). We question that and also ask for some sort of discount on my wife’s meal. Waitress comes back, doesn’t say a word and drops the bill back on the table. When we notice no change to the bill, we ask her again and she said the manager said you got the meal so no discount.
Food was fine, but service and attitude of management was terrible. It certainly wasn’t because the place was too busy either. Too many places to spend $ on good meals with staff that care if you are a satisfied customer. We told our waitress that we won’t be coming back again and didn’t get much...
Read moreI don’t usually have such a rough time at a place that I would want to leave a review, and I don’t want this to turn anyone away completely by leaving this. However, I did want to give a heads up on things in case you decide to eat here.
The time to get seated was very fast, and and the wait staff were all decently nice for the most part, they just made a few mistakes in the beginning.
The only truly bad thing that was done, happened whenever my group discovered a dead fly mashed into the basket that held everyone’s chips. Obviously more than one person reaching into one basket of chips isn’t exactly the most sanitary thing ever, but the mushed dead fly was incredibly unsanitary. What made me want to leave a review was whenever the wait staff was notified and shown the dead fly, they didn’t really seem to care about it and were smiling. They did take the basket from and got a bigger with more chips so that was pretty cool, but still.
Obviously it’s more than likely a rare thing and I don’t except it happens a lot there, but I wanted to warn anyone that it may happen, and if does, they will not care about it at all so just don’t complain to...
