Maribelle Cakery — Restaurant in Cheviot

The cupcakes were delicious, and every interaction I had with staff leading up to our wedding reception was very friendly. However, I can’t recommend Maribelle for a large event like a wedding. They were unorganized and sometimes did a poor job of communication. I was thrilled with most of my vendors and left them all glowing reviews online, but for Maribelle I wrote them an email kindly giving feedback on some of the hiccups I experienced with them. I explained that while the cupcakes were wonderful, a bride planning a wedding really is looking for a vendor she will not have to keep checking up on or answering the same questions for multiple times, and will follow through with what they said they will do. It took them a long time to respond to my feedback email. When they finally responded, they tried to argue or make excuses for some of the inconveniences I experienced, while failing to address others. I had not been looking for an argument or even a discount, so this response to my feedback was less than professional. I ordered a birthday cake here for my daughter's 10th birthday. I gave them a picture and they said they could do it. What a disaster. Cake tasted awful and it didn't really look like the picture whatsoever. What a disaster for a big birthday. I will never order from this place again.

Update on reply: NO, I did not order a 2 tier cake. You can clearly see designs on the top. If this was a 2 tier like you say there would be no designs and there would be a hole for the tier. No, it was no destruction done to it. Those scribble lines were suppose to be webs and the black blob you see was suppose to be spiders. Please do not make things up. To be honest, I when I started planning my wedding, I thought that the cake was going to be the least exciting part of the process and day. THEN I went for a tasting at Maribelle Cakery and it was THE BEST CAKE I HAVE EVER EATEN (and I've lived in NYC for 10 years and eaten a lot of fancy/famous cakes and cupcakes). My mom and I had to stop ourselves from devouring every sample! Plus, the cakes were stunning. When I showed them pictures of cakes I liked, they understood my taste, and made one inspired by the pictures, but still completely unique. They also helped me surprise my now husband (!) with an adorable Groom's Cake that looked like a golf course! They responded quickly to all of our emails, and made amazing adjustments when our guest list got dramatically shorter after the hurricanes. I'm so excited to order my anniversary cake from them...
