We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Penny’s Diner in Cheyenne! From the moment we walked in, my family felt completely welcomed. The front desk staff greeted us warmly, and then the cook—who I believe was named Chad (he wore glasses and had a beard)—personally took our order. He was incredible the entire time, checking on us repeatedly, offering extras like ranch, brownies, and cinnamon rolls (they sounded amazing, but we were way too full), and really made us feel like guests rather than just customers. One of the first things we noticed was how spotless the diner was. The floors were sparkling clean, all the fun 50’s-style chrome accents were polished to a shine, and even the seats were so clean they literally squeaked when we sat down. With the open kitchen design, you can see everything—and it was just as tidy and organized behind the counter. The kitchen line looked sharp and well-maintained, which really shows how much pride the staff takes in their work. The food was just as impressive. The onion rings and tater tots were cooked perfectly—crispy, golden, and far better quality than what you’d get at most national chains. The burgers had a delicious grilled flavor with high-quality, lean beef—none of that greasy, processed stuff. I also ordered a strawberry malt that was not only amazing in taste, but hands-down the most beautiful malt I’ve ever seen. (Definitely sharing a photo—it deserves it.) We happened to be some of the only customers at the time, which surprised us given how good everything was. Chad explained that their grill has been partially broken for a while and only heats on one side, and unfortunately that’s caused many of their regulars to stop coming. He was clearly disappointed, and really hopes they return once things are fixed—his care for the diner and its loyal customers was obvious. All in all, this place is a hidden gem. Spotless, welcoming, great food, and a nostalgic, cool vibe. We’ll definitely be back—and I hope others stop in and show them some love. They deserve it!

Terrible service. Would not recommend this place. I stopped in one night to order food and had possibly one of the worst experiences with a restaurant ever. I ordered food which totaled $26 & change. I gave $40 and left the change. With instructions that I would be having someone else pick up the order for me since I was working and only on a short break. The people I paid took my money and didn’t make my food passed the problem to the next shift. Who recharged the person picking up my food. So I went over and asked why we were charged again they said the previous shift never communicated the food was paid for. Which is fine no big deal so I asked for a refund the lady working said she didn’t know how to process a refund. And that her manager would be in at 6am and to come back tomorrow. The next day comes and I talk to the lady I paid she apologized for the mistake but ultimately passed it off saying night shift messed up and they shouldn’t have charged me. So I asked if I could be a refund and she said I’d have to wait till later in the week for a refund because her manager didn’t show up to work. I explained that I didn’t live in town and I shouldn’t be inconvenienced for their mistake. After several minutes it was clear the lady at the desk was not going to help and had no intention of making the situation right and returning the money I was double charged. The only option was to return at a later date. She handed me a card and said call a number so I decided to take her picture so i could tell her boss how unhelpful she was. She became irate yelling and told me to leave and said she was calling the cops for taking her picture. She called the cops, and they said I was within my rights to take a picture. This was a problem that was completely blown out of proportion and was 100% avoidable by issuing a refund and treating customers properly. Anyway would not recommend lazy people. Apparently no upper management and terrible customer service.

If I could rate this diner higher, I absolutely would. Made a last minute decision to stop here and boy am I happy I did. Little did I know, nestled behind all of the bustling hubbub of a busy town is a wonderful classic diner! My daughter and I stopped in for lunch. It was not busy but that's okay, hopefully after this review more business will come in. Like stepping back in time, you have the booths and you have the seats up at the counter. Oldies music on the radio. The cook was a joy to talk to. The food was excellent. Menu had so many delicious sounding dishes it was hard to choose from. Vintage decor on the walls. Very clean. You can get italian sodas here and old fashioned milkshakes. They do have a loyalty program as well! They have a diner like this back in Pennsylvania my grandmother would take me to so the nostalgia was extra pleasant. My daughter loved the diner atmosphere as well! Definitely my new go-to spot, hands down. I can't wait to go back!

This was by far the WORST service I have EVER received. Upon entering there was no instructions whether or not it was a "seat yourself" situation, so my husband and I had to basically guess what to do. After 10 minutes of wondering if anyone even WORKS here, a very greasy, sweaty older gentleman comes up to us, sighs VERY loudly, rolls his eyes and takes our drink order. Apparently we didn't speak up enough because this man then barks at my husband 'WHAT????' It was highly uncomfortable. It then took almost another 5-10 minutes to get one coke and one chocolate malt.

Next, I couldn't believe what happened. This man I didn't see wash his hands ONCE, but then proceeded to use his BARE HANDS to cook our food, sweat dripping onto my food. What unfolded next was like being in a drama TV. Both my husband and I witnessed someone get fired, very entertainingly might I add, but nonetheless very unprofessional. Vulgarities tossed around, name calling, shouting, just an all around uncomfortable situation to be in, especially while one is hangry and just want some damn food. THEN another drama-tv situation happened. Someone got broken up with! Same thing, vulgarities, name calling, shouting, all this happened right behind the booth we sat in. Finally our food came, while it was okay tasting it was not worth going over in the slightest. I'm pretty sure I could've gotten better food at McDonald's.

Last but certainly not least, payment. I went up to pay for my food at the counter and I stood up there 20 DAMN minutes while this girl at the counter ran around like a stinky chicken with her head cut off. She was not only running front desk for the hotel attached, but also counting her drawer which she couldn't decide if it was 50 dollars short or 5 dollars over. Eventually, this sweaty tank top wearing lady takes my money and gives me my change back. My husband and I got out of there as FAST as we could. I legit think it was a front for something illegal. That's the literal vibe I got. I don't think people actually eat here, because if it is? Worst service I have ever had. I literally thought for a second we were at one of those restaurants where they treat you bad on purpose. Alas, I was mistaken. If I could get my $40 and my 2 hours for 2 cheeseburgers, fries and a shake/coke order I would. That was the most worse, scary service I have and probably ever will...
