This is one of the only spots where you can get deep dish pizza by the slice, so it's a convenient spot if you’re craving deep dish (or any pizza) but don’t want to invest in an entire pie. However, I was unfortunately not super impressed with the deep dish here.
They have 3 pizza slice options— thin crust, pan crust, and stuffed crust (deep dish). They also have other salad, sub, and dessert options which I didn’t try. I got a slice of Spinach, Mushroom & Onion Pizza (~$5.50) and 2 orders of jalapeno cheese poppers ($12 for 12 total poppers).
The slices seemed to be lying outside for awhile and they served it to us without reheating it, so our slices were not hot at all— which is not ideal for pizza, and especially not ideal for deep dish pizza. Otherwise, the taste was pretty mediocre and not very flavorful. The jalapeno poppers were okay— crispy and a decent appetizer to have on hand.
There’s a small amount of seating inside, but usually not too many who dine in, and you order at the counter. The vibes and interior decor are cute, homey, and very casual. The price is pretty good since it’s by the slice, but I’m just not a huge fan of the pizza quality here. With so many pizza options nearby and in Chicago, I personally wouldn’t choose to come back. —

Read moreI gotta give this place 5 stars even though I only had one slice of pizza here. It was almost 9 at night and they had a variety of thin, pan, and stuffed pizza. I got a slice of the Art's Special stuffed for 5 bucks and it was great. I was worried it would be old from sitting under the lights for too long but it was very fresh and very good. The place was full, mostly of college students, but I managed to find a place to sit down and eat. Any place that has very good pan and stuffed pizza by the slice that is fresh and a reasonable price deserves 5 stars in my book. There was the creep that stole my napkins off my table when I went to get oregano and hot peppers for my slice, but I won't penalize the pizza place for him.
Update: My brother and I went here a few weeks ago during lunch during the week. We both got stuffed slices like I got before, but this time it wasn't nearly as good. The bottom crust didn't seem quite done, and the top layer was very doughy. I don't know why it wasn't nearly as good as the first time, but I have to reduce my rating a star to 4 based on my 2 experiences and my brother's opinion of his slice. I will try again next time in...
Read moreIt isn't a trip to the Loop without at least one slice of heaven. First time trying this place and I'd definitely stop back in when wandering downtown.
Cozy venue wasn't busy at the moment when my wife & kids walked in but shortly after ordering, it became swamped with customers constantly walking in so lucky me being I avoided the wait in line.
Whether thin crust, pan or deep dish/stuffed; Art of Pizza's got it whether a whole pie or by the slice. Ended up getting a couple of thin crust slices for our young boys, a deep dish slice for my wife and one of each for myself MMM MMM MMMM!!
With the small amount of tables available in the cozy café, definitely seems more of a carry-out place. Ended up at the table closest to the door and for the amount of times the door opened, ended up putting my coat back on with that rush of cold air coming in lol.
Came here in late March during my kids' spring break week so it was still chilly out. Another gem well worth stopping in the Chi and a break from obvious chain competitors with the likes of Gino's East, Giordano's, Lou...
