The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Overall, Taco Maya isn’t just a late-night spot—it’s a go-to destination for some of the best tacos in Chicago. Read moreWas actually on my way to another nearby familiar Mexican spot over on Printer's Row, when this place caught my attention. First because it was new---or at least new to me. Second, I noticed a few other people at tables inside (quite appropriately socially-distanced) and the energetic staff busily working behind the counter. Even though they were all wearing masks as mandated, the place seemed inviting. After finally settling on one Yucatan and one Shrimp taco, I finally placed my order, including sides of refried beans and rice. The employee assisting me suggested making it a plate/combo. This was appreciated as saving a little cash on a deal is always a good thing! Chips and salsa as an appetizer were included, and I had to remember to save room for the main dish! Everything arrived at my table hot and looked very appetizing. Although the tacos seemed small at first, they were stuffed with very tasty combinations of ingredients in just the right amounts. The shrimp were a tad salty, but otherwise, no complaints. This was a great choice for a quick flavorful meal in a bright, clean, and...
Read moreSomeone tried to rob me here last Friday night. The "security" at this location let a homeless person in and they tried to grab my wallet which was in front of me on a table under my order number and sprint out the door.
Security watched as I got up and tackled the would be robber to the ground and wrenched my wallet out of his hands and came back into the restaurant. Security did not detain him, tried to take credit for the takedown, and all I got for my troubles was a free drink.
I've been requesting the camera footage of the incident for DAYS now as I aggravated a medical condition in the takedown (I had been in the hospital earlier that day getting a procedure) and I need evidence to submit to my insurance. Taco Maya staff has given me the runaround and lied to me every day since Friday saying that there is no manager on duty, that only corporate can give me this information & they'll call me, and also that there IS no corporate number.
Avoid this restaurant and this company. They do not care about your safety, your health, nor do they care about providing...
