Had a wonderful time in chi Chinatown, as always. Looked forward to BBQ King & enjoyed wonderful BBQ pork & rice & daily soup. Service was efficient, fast, but unwelcoming & without heart. Would be back for the food, not the service. This was our first stop & a restaurant we were so excited to try. & can say, the food was amazing. We stayed in china town for 5 hours & parked at the north parking. We realize we should had validated our parking ticket at BBQ King after we had left as everywhere else had $25 minimum or under an agreement only “Resturants” can validate the parking ticket. We went back to BBQ King & I saw the “kind” lady who had served us our great meal earlier in the evening. I asked if they validate parking & apologized & try to make a genuine human connection that we realized we should have validated when we were there earlier. As a server of 15+ years in Chicagoland myself, I tried to connect however she seemed cold & perhaps had a bad day? She stated she understood & they would validate. I said how thankful we were & how wonderful the food was earlier. She didn’t smile or care at all… once again though, maybe a bad day? She took our ticket & went to validate for us & we expressed our gratitude & thanks. It was shaping to be a wonderful birthday for me. However, we got to the lot later & realized she in fact, did not validate our ticket & we had to pay the full price of $18 dollars. My point… I would rather you be clear with your abilities or teach me if I am misunderstanding something rather than lie to peoples face knowingly that you have done something malice when we spent 5* hours in Chinatown & could have gone to another business with more human decency than people who thinks it’s fun to lie to people over parking validation. Food = good. Service = terrible. The people aren’t genuine & shit on people of...
Read moreMy husband and I love roast duck and Asian cuisine. We found this place to have very authentic dishes, however we noticed discrepancies in customer service. Our portions are smaller when compared to other customers when we dine in, and our takeout orders are always sent with dry old rice. We REALLY love their roast duck and if we stand at the counter to watch the Chef chop we usually get the order correctly with no portion misssing (our solution to the duck issue) and we simply make our own rice at home (solution to the rice issue). The last time I went, a customer ahead of me got beautiful, fluffy, steaming white rice and mine was dry, hard, and cold. The first time my husband and I ordered (dining in) our bill was $23 and included rice. The second time we ordered the same dish, but got no rice. The third time we ordered the same dish again but this time as takeout, charged $2 more and no rice. When I questioned about the rice, I was charged $1, given more cold, hard, dry rice, and she complained that I was paying with a card and not cash. I believe this is intentional when they don’t want you to return. It’s sad and I can’t understand why our business isn’t wanted. We are always...
Read moreLocated in Chinatown Square, it’s closer to the side where Minghin and Chi Cafe are. It’s a good bbq restaurant that seldom gets busy, which can be a good thing. Most people head over to Minghin automatically but I like the taste of my roast duck here. In this picture, I actually ordered this whole plate of roast duck for myself. I was supposed to meet up with friends here and share an order, but the Chicago traffic going into Chinatown is atrocious. This plate was under $30. It tastes great with rice. I found the roast duck here to be juicy, tender, and full of flavor. They also have other kinds of dishes not related to duck on the menu. Service was quick. For parking, you can either park in the two big lots or if you go later at night you can park behind the restaurant. The lot behind the restaurant is free. Most of the time, it gets filled during the day. For the big lots, I can’t remember if they validate your ticket. It doesn’t...
