(Disappointing service for the price/but food was good) Came here for the first time today. We ate on the terrace which is very cute and has nice music (although a bit on the louder side). First, both of us got different menus, with 5-10$ difference in prices between the two. When ordering, we were told that the more expensive one was the “right” one. Second, I wanted to order the black bean burger, the only hot vegetarian plate on the menu. I was told it was not available, and the only other thing they offered aside from a salad was veggie fajitas (on the menu they only offer meat/shrimp fajitas at 29$). I accepted and the meal was nice. We ordered 2 virgin drinks and for one of them realized it had alcohol in it. When we asked the server if it was “fake” alcohol that tastes like the real thing, she went to check and told us that in the end a mistake was made on their end and the drink had alcohol in it, but that they would replace it. We had the time to finish our meal without receiving the drink, and were told that the person in charge of the drinks was “very busy”. We ended up just canceling the order for that drink and paying for our meal. We received the full receipt by text after leaving and realized that they had charged 30$ for my meal (so even more expensive than the listed price for the fajitas that have meat, on their menu). For the expensive price of all the entrees and overall of the meal, the service was disappointing. Feel free to look around there are plenty of good options...
Read moreIt is worth walking further down the pier if you enjoy seafood and spicy cocktails. If my sister had not looked at this restaurant, we may have missed out on this restaurant. We did go on a Friday, and they offered brunch that day in addition to the menu. We could have enjoy drinks and foods in the brunch menu, but how can you ignore specialty margaritas z you have a choice to pick between at least 3 fruit flavors and 3 spic levels for tour margarita.. i chose the mango habañero and the strawberry habanero margaritas.. if you don’t get the tajin rim, you need to rethink your life. We also got the guacamole starter, which tasted fine but the blue chips were the stand out. Unfortunately, my family wasn’t interested in ceviche so we invested in the shared dish aka para compartir de parrilla chica. This dish was like a Latino hotpot, I say that because this restaurant offer food from multiple Latin American countries. The spice level was great and by the you got to the vegetables, they were excellent all seasoned. If I went again, I would ask for 1 or 2 additional crab clusters or maybe additional shrimp because I had to share. From the hot pot, you can select the veggies and meat that you want to make a personal taco or eat. I don’t think we had rice, but that would be an easy add on. For dessert we ordered the churros that were delicious and with the right amount of crunch: I would go again and I would think about the group dish if I had multiple...
Read moreA Fantastic Meal at Bar Sol, Navy Pier! My recent visit to Bar Sol at Navy Pier was an absolute delight! If you're looking for a spot with amazing food and plenty of seating both indoors and out, this is definitely a place to check out. We enjoyed a truly delicious lunch. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy, the cheeseburger was juicy and satisfying, and the lobster pasta was an absolute standout – rich, flavorful, and packed with tender lobster. Every dish we ordered was fantastic and really hit the spot.
The only minor hiccup in an otherwise perfect experience was the high-pressure photography service. While I understand businesses want to capture memories, the constant posing requests and upselling felt a bit distasteful, especially when we were trying to enjoy a relaxing meal. It detracted from what should have been a peaceful lunch without the extra "money grab" distractions.
Despite that small point, the quality of the food and the comfortable atmosphere make Bar Sol a highly recommended dining destination at Navy Pier. I'll definitely be back for that...
