I watched a Food Insider review video about the best donuts in every state. Firecakes was rated the best donuts in Illinois. I Googled the address, but didn't read any reviews before visiting because I didn't want to influence my opinion about the donuts, until I personally tried them. I had showed my husband the large and varied menu of donuts; we had high expectations. My husband and I visited this small, sort of fancy shop for the first time on January 1st 2021, at about 10:00 am. Only 1 to 2 people are allowed inside at a time. You can only order and go. There was actually a limited amount of donut options (about 15), compared to the menu on the website. I felt VERY disappointed! We ordered a dozen: Wildflower Honey Glazed, Valrhona Chocolate Iced, Tahitian Vanilla Iced, Jelly Bismark, Coconut Cream, Cinnamon Roll, Red Velvet Cake, Orange Poppy Seed, Valrhona Chocolate Espresso, Pinapple Coconut Fritter, and I think a Triple Rich Chocolate Cake. We tried them all, each one of them was soft, DELICIOUS, and with great texture. However, I felt that they were a bit expensive (I am NOT a cheap person). Firecake donuts are delicious, no doubt, but not incredibly different from Stan's donuts. My daughter loved Firecake donuts, she thinks that they are THE BEST. We all loved the cinnamon roll! My husband, my son and I think that they're great but a bit pricey, and it's not worth it to go all the way there for just a cinnamon roll. We may stop by to get some donuts, IF we happen to be around the area, but we could get Stan's donuts for the same great taste, about the same price, and closer to home. For a simple donut craving, I'd settle for Dunkin Donuts. Firecakes has a decent amount of coffee choices, but again, I think they are too pricey; that's why I didn't want to get any. The shop looked clean. The cashier was pacient and nice enough. Wishing you a safe, healthy and...

BREAKING NEWS—Chicago, IL

“Donut Ice Cream Sandwich.” The conclusions of a groundbreaking study published by a collection of many of the leading neuroscientists in the nation have unequivocally confirmed that these four words (when introduced consecutively) simply cannot be comprehended by the human brain (not true). Apparently the stimulus to the cerebral cortex is so overwhelming that all logical thought processes are suspended for a period of 3-7 minutes, depending upon which ice cream flavor and topping or sauce has been selected by the subject (not true).

The Journal of Unimportant Nonexistent Knowledge (JUNK) has credited “Firecakes Craft Donuts” with the discovery of this unexpected creation (hmmm, half of that could possibly be true).

In an additional, and unexpected announcement, a singular (and unnamed) employee of “Henry’s Take” has selflessly volunteered to serve as a willing participant in the ongoing study of this important discovery, “for as long as it takes. Seriously, as long as it takes. I truly believe in the incredible combination of flavors created by the Donut Ice Cream Sandwich. Wait, what I meant to say was that I totally believe in this sector of Science.”

Stay tuned for updates to this developing story across all local and national...

Firecakes Donuts in Chicago is a small-batch haven for donut lovers, and my recent visit left me with a sweet craving for more. 🍩

We indulged in a delightful array of flavors, including the German Chocolate, Vanilla Iced, Apple Cider, and Sprinkle donuts. Each one was a bite-sized piece of heaven, showcasing the craftsmanship and dedication to quality that defines Firecakes. The German Chocolate was a rich delight, the Vanilla Iced a classic treat, the Apple Cider a burst of autumn flavors, and the Sprinkle an explosion of fun.

The shop itself is quite petite, emphasizing the artisanal nature of their creations. With only outside seating available, it adds a casual and cozy vibe to the whole experience. It's a spot where you can savor your donuts in the open air, appreciating the flavors under the Chicago sky.

In conclusion, Firecakes Donuts is a must-visit for anyone in Chicago with a sweet tooth. The variety of flavors, coupled with the artisanal touch, makes it a delightful stop for a sugary escapade. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this small-batch donut shop is a treat waiting to be discovered....
