Grill on 21 has become a staple for me in the Chicago Loop, and each visit continues to exceed my expectations. The consistently exceptional dining experience and service by Food and Beverage Director Jose Fitzpatrick and his talented team is much appreciated. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming atmosphere and attention to detail set the tone for a memorable meal.
One of my favorite dishes is the steak and eggs, which is always cooked to perfection. The steak is tender and full of flavor, paired with eggs done just right—over easy, with the perfect yolk. The quality of the ingredients and the precision in preparation show a clear dedication to excellence in every bite.
What truly sets Grill on 21 apart is the consistency across all aspects of the experience—whether it’s the food, the service, or the ambiance, everything is always top-notch. The team’s commitment to maintaining high standards ensures that every visit is just as good, if not better, than the last.
Whether you’re in for breakfast or a more formal meal, Grill on 21 offers an exceptional dining experience that never disappoints. It’s become one of my go-to stops in the Chicago Loop, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, impeccable service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Read moreThis place is a little underwhelming. It started with the server, who won't even look at us in the eye when we asked for a table. She just looked at her list and started walking so we were confused if we were to follow her or what.
The place is smallish and dark with no windows and low ceilings, so if you're looking for an outside view, this is not the place.
For a drink, I ordered the Marquee. It's quite good though.
They start you with some bread which was actually the best part of the meal 🙂. The tapenade was quite tasty and I wish they give more.
I ordered the Chilean seabass. I don't know if it's my taste bud but it doesn't taste like the Chilean seabass that I love. It's hard to find them in MN that's why I ordered this. I'm not even sure if it is or not. It's also a little overcooked and quite salty.
My girlfriend also didn't like her seafood pasta. She said everything was salty. But my other girlfriend liked her roasted salmon and she said she even liked the mashed potatoes. Creamy and great seasoning.
For dessert, we ordered tiramisu and the white chocolate blueberry cheesecake. I liked the tiramisu but I didn't taste the cheesecake.
I didn't get to take some photos of our main dishes though.
They have a live band playing jazz so if you'd like to listen to live music and get some drinks, this might be a nice...
Read moreMy coworker recommended this place.. with so many restaurants in either River north or the west loop.. I actually had very low expectations for this place. I came in and was floored. Beautifully modern and very clean. The ambiance was great. I started off with the Caesar salad with anchovies.. ( I loved it) and then I had the free range chicken and my fiancé had the steak.. we added and shared the Brussels sprouts and I had their signature old fashion.. The great thing about the evening.. they had a jazz singer in the lounge area playing and singing music and although we couldn’t see her from our dining table we were able to hear her singing performance. It actually was the only regret of the night… we had a early morning and would have loved to have settled our tab and went into the lounge to hear and enjoy the rest of the performance. It’s just another added incentive to comeback.. I really hope that singer will be there the next time I’m there she was amazing…the food was excellent.. but I can definitely see myself coming back to the lounge on a Friday or Saturday just to enjoy the performance.. This space is amazing and you guys are doing a fantastic job keep up...
