The room was lovely, clean and modern. It's a charming hotel in a fantastic location at an affordable price. My only issue is with the staff. They aren't very friendly.

My first encounter with this was on the phone before check-in, where I had questions about the valet. Our first pass by the hotel had no parking, and I saw no one out front for valet service. (It's on a one-way street in downtown Chicago; there's no time to linger.) After calling the hotel and navigating through a lengthy automated voice message system, the woman who answered the phone was rather short: there were spots out front available now for car drop-off, and they do offer valet service (as they should, with the $50+ parking fee per night).

The following day, the back of our valet ticket said to dial 0 for the front desk [to relay the message to valet to pick up our vehicle.] We provided the male, front desk worker with both our room number and our valet ticket number. It was going to take about 20 minutes for the valet to retrieve our car, which we had known about ahead of time, and were more than alright with. We waited more than 40 minutes before I approached the valet, who stated that he had never received the message from the front desk. It was then that the valet worker promptly went to retrieve our vehicle. (This means it took about an hour to get our car from the valet!)

From here, I approached the front desk and said I had a complaint. The woman, the other worker, standing next to Bob literally, audibly said "uh oh." I was stunned by this display of unprofessionalism. To Bob's (the manager, I assume) credit, however, he did fix the valet issue and refunded us the amount of parking/valet service for the night. I was very pleased.

As we waited in the lobby, we heard the front desk receiving the same complaint from another couple. I would have rated this hotel higher, especially because our issues were so quickly and rightfully addressed, but just as we left, we watched Bob go out and scold his valet staff. Our valet had been very apologetic for the mix up from the start - and incredibly kind throughout our whole stay. It was not their fault that they did not receive the necessary information to do their job from the front desk. I was disappointed that Bob chose to talk to the valet in such a manner rather than his workers at the front desk.

I would also like to mention that when we approached the front desk to check out, one of the workers (a man with glasses, beard, and longer hair - and also the one we assume who did not pass along our information to the valet) rudely stated that he'd be with us in a minute. (He never got to us. The female standing in front of the counter organizing luggage swooped back to assist us.) We were patiently standing back away from the counter waiting to be called. There was no need for that.

Overall, I would choose to stay here again, as it really is a charming venue, but I would leave any expectations of...

I’ve stayed in some of the worlds, best hotels, including the Chelsea in New York City, the Roosevelt in Hollywood, and the TWA Hotel JFK just in a few, but I’m telling you this is going be one of the single greatest room views I’ve ever had. I can’t believe I got it in an as good price either. Service check-in was easy and super friendly and the property location is excellent. Navigating the hallways is a little bit like a maze, but the room and the view are absolutely phenomenal. The room overall was clean for the most part, was not tired, dingy, or showing signs of not being upkept, passing the dust test. Overall, I got a good night’s sleep in the hotel. So with that said, despite the overwhelmingly awesome room view, there were a few weird small nitpickings, I am going to point out.

I’ll list them in order from no big deal to slight sense of ughness starting with the desk trash can with no bag in it, long black hair in the bed under the sheets, a toilet that wouldn’t stop running, the same toilet when I opened the lid to find an unflushed giant load of hair in the bowl like someone shaved their head or pubes and never flushed. It wasn’t just a little but a large huge wad of gain in a toilet that when I flushed it feared it was going to clog the toilet—this was a first! I may remember this more than the view from the windows—housekeeping was clearly asleep at the wheel on that one, or worse, they were having a party in the room earlier.

I can excuse forgetting to flush a toilet, and that is a simple fix so the worst offense on my stay was that no matter how hot I set the temperature on the thermostat for, the room was perpetually cold. I could feel heat radiating around the curtains but the room was just so damn chilly which was lousy when it was 25 degrees outside and I wanted to be warm inside. The heat did eventually kick in but it wasn’t until about 9am. Still, since I prefer a slightly lower temperature when I sleep and the sheets were plenty warm, it was no big deal—none of these offenses were so egregious that it worth phoning the front desk; but I do felt it worth mentioning.

At the end of the day, I would still stay here again. The price was a good value, the service at the front desk great, and the views of the...

Good location. Rooms are a little smaller than most but very well kept. I had food delivered And the doordash guy wasn't allowed to come up and drop it off at the room. Apparently there is a desk in the lobby where food items can be dropped off so people can pick them up and take them upstairs themselves. Unfortunately after my food was dropped off, someone decided to grab my dinner and a few groceries right from that table, which is really disappointing for a hotel that's supposed to be luxurious. I asked the front desk and lobby staff about the missing food and received zero help. I even asked them if they can please check to see who stole the food because that wasn't okay. However again was met with this nonchalant attitude of "oh well". I had no choice but to literally reorder the exact same thing I had already ordered and paid for. If people are just stealing food from the lobby, I would think that this calls for at least a little bit of their attention because it is not okay. Nor is brushing away my complaint and dismissing it rather than take it seriously. Just left a bad taste unfortunately And this could have been avoided if there was little customer service being offered.

Update. Booked another room for a couple of days and hoped for a better result. Unfortunately, their customer service and front desk leaves a lot to be desired. Housekeeping didn’t come by to clean the room/restock towels etc so the next day I called front desk asking them to please have housekeeping tend to the room. I must have called them 5-6 times to remind them and they kept saying somebody is coming by. Finally around 5 PM I got very frustrated and called them again saying to either give me a new room or have housekeeping here and they were literally on their way out. To top it off, the front desk person actually started to have an attitude with me instead and became rude. They decided to hang up the phone instead of speaking professionally. Just highly disappointing. I asked if I can have a late check out so I can go straight to the hospital for work and their response…”not happening boss”. You know what else is not happening, me ever staying at this...

If you want even the smallest of conveniences (like easily walking around the bed or a quiet room) don't stay here. Designers chose poorly for such cramped quarters. The room is probably 100 sq feet. The bathroom door has a panel that shines light through it so hopefully noone gets up to use it when others are sleeping. The front desk is not friendly or communicative. You have to pull answers out of them ... there's 0 taxi, shuttle or similar service but Uber turned out to be fine. There's no microwave, fridge, or tub. If you want an ice bucket even, it's available only on the 3rd floor. BUT! You have a huge desk, and some lobby area to hang out at. The ONLY reason you would choose this hotel is if you were not going to be in it doing anything but working. Which could be a huge plus since the location is great. They have laundry, snacks and an attached bar with British food. You can watch TV free. I guess that's a bonus. After 3 night stay, we discovered that the bottom level has a fancy coffee maker that dispenses Expresso drinks (slowly but surely) and there's fruit & granola bars. Meeting rooms as well down there. However, the room itself was never any better. I could hear traffic on the 9th floor and the ppl outside of our room coming and going. It felt like a cramped room with little privacy and lots of inconveniences. We had a basic room so maybe the expensive ones are better. Not for weary travelers that are vacationing. Best for ppl who need to work in their room.

The location of this hotel is great, but that's where the list of pros ends. I traveled here last weekend for a work trip and the stay was awful. The list could go on, but I don't want to exceed the character limit for this review. The staff was friendly but didn't care to ask how my stay was. I would have loved to resolve this while I was there, but they didn't give me the opportunity to because checkout was a mess. The price I paid for this hotel was not equal to the quality of the room. The furniture was old, gross, and dirty. There was water damage in my room. There was dirt and gunk all over the baseboards and electrical outlets. Nothing was clean and everything was dusty. There were spots on the walls and floors that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. There was no fitted sheet on my bed. The room was the size of a college dorm room. Nothing about this stay was comfortable, and I don't think I'd ever return. I'd love an opportunity to come back to Chicago for work, but if that happens, I'll definitely be looking elsewhere for a hotel unless they can get it together.
