The location seems aesthetically pleasing, except the random two flies roaming around where the food and drinks are prepared.
I did not order any food for this case, and ordered a drink instead. I asked the attendant if there was an option for a regular brew, drip or pour over. But he didn't know what I was talking about. It seemed the only option for anything was espresso.
The drink itself tastes good. The only downside for it was the flies and the urgency to remove them from the workplace.
I saw the bottles of sweetners uncalled and my only thought was that flies or other insects have easy access to the inside of the bottles.
Aside this, everything else seems to be well maintained including the aesthetics. No paint chipping and no broken furniture.
Rating 4 stars because that's what Google says, "I like it". I would rate 3 starks as well, for "It's ok". In terms of their options and what was mentioned above, but I do plan on coming back solely for the studying and reading. I do not plan on selecting a drink that is a food or has sweetners in it.
Update (Part 2) This is my second review.
Second time going here, they did not have matcha. They ran out. I ordered another coffee drink and it had the taste of very burnt coffee.
There is a community fly that seems to still exist there from my last visit. It would not leave me or my table alone. I just wanted to read in peace. (Owner says they're working with the problem, as mentioned in comment)
This time, the table I sat at had crumbs and I had to grab a napkin to clean the table myself. The pillows, wooden chairs, and recliners do seem to have a nice aesthec to it. Atmosphere: There were a group of people who were talking. I tried to read my book in peace, read it comfortable, with minimal sound and distractions, but this group was talking loud enough that I could hear their conversation and laughter through my earbuds. Eventually they left but I saw no staff approach them regarding this. The flies still exists and roams around.
There was a TV with some dj playing music, upbeat, fairly good music for me, but I don't think the music is a good choice for the visual settings of what the chairs are, the pillows are, or the overall basically the design the establishment. The music would need to be more chill step...
Read moreI have been looking forward to visiting Happy Monday in the loop for awhile and unfortunately it wasn’t the experience I expected. I’ve been to the River North location and I had a much better experience I thought would be consistent here. Overall the coffee was decent-not overpowering even though there are two espresso shots and not too sweet (I ordered the lumberjack).
My main issues were:
There are too many restrictions with the menu. I wanted to try one of the coffees (I believe it was the one with the best cup) but couldn’t get it in anything less than 16oz. I don’t drink milk and that was one that already included Oat milk. Ok fine. I then ordered the lumberjack and was charged an extra $.85. With tip I paid $9 for a 12oz oat milk latte with cinnamon and maple syrup. Why would I be charged extra for oat milk if you can make a 16oz drink WITH oat milk for less than what I’m paying for a 12 oz? It doesn’t make sense and it’s very frustrating to still have to pay extra for milk substitutes that are being ordered more frequently than regular milk now
There’s no bathroom attached. In order to use the shared building bathroom you have to hand over identification-and the restroom is on the 13th floor. How are you a coffee shop and you don’t have a restroom for paying customers? And to add insult to injury I have to hand over my personal information just to use a shared bathroom? It’s not only inconvenient it’s tacky and insulting to your customers.
The barista was great and the service from him was great-as I stated he made the coffee very balanced. My main concern is how the establishment is managed with little regards to customers...
Read moreI stopped by this coffee shop on Sunday 6/29 around 12:30 PM to grab a drink. The space itself is nice and inviting. I ordered a 12oz iced latte, but it was served hot. When I asked if there had been a mistake, I was told that 12oz drinks are only served hot, which is nowhere indicated on the menu.
I completely understand that miscommunications happen, but what stood out to me was the barista’s response. Rather than clarifying the policy politely, I was told, “It says that in the menu if you read it,” which felt unnecessarily condescending. I even showed her the menu afterward, and there was no mention of this detail.
I don’t mind honest miscommunication, but being talked down to and made to feel like it was my fault was off-putting. Instead of a simple explanation or apology, I was just immediately offered a discounted second drink and a bunch of statements as to why it’s my fault for not knowing.
For future reference: they only serve 12oz drinks hot. It would help if this were clearly marked on the menu and even more so if the staff approached these kinds of misunderstandings with a bit...
