This review was tough to right because there are some good staff there such as Gloria. However, this review is regarding management. As someone who’s been to the spa twice in the past, I can honestly say that I think it’s a great place to go but is poorly managed. The first time I went, the manager, Danielle was very nice and her staff was good. Again, I really hit it off with massage assistant Gloria. Moreover, what enticed me to come back was that I got a discount for buying two massages. Fast forward to last month. When I asked if I bought two massages, can I get a discount like I did last time. Danielle told me that she couldn’t on the weekends because “ the weekends are our busiest times and we have to honour our masseuse contracts.” When I explain to her that you guys gave me a discount last time for two massages and it was on the weekend she replied “ well I can’t speak to that.” Even though she was the one that gave me the discount! Then I received an email saying that she could do it if I bought an additional couples massage for over $500. To me, it just felt greedy. I tried to get a discount for the two massages that I bought last time, and this time she’s not able to give me a discount for the two massages, but will give me a discount if I buy three. And again, I had to spend an additional $500. When I got there, I was able to see Gloria again and she was very nice. Danielle, on the other hand was a different story. She was very crass, sassy and unprofessional. Not to mention, she didn’t even greet me, even though she knew who I was.
In all, well, there are some good massage staff there, I just think management ruins it for everyone. I’m not sure I would go back there. It was a complete let down. Especially considering I went back there because I enjoyed the first time. My recommendation is to use the spa elsewhere. There are plenty good ones in the city. Sadly, this is not...
Read moreAs I entered The Spa at Palmer House, I was greeted warmly. Before I share my service experience, let’s peruse the esthetics. Gorgeous marble, wood and serene lighting welcomed me away from the bustle. A staffer greeted me and offered their coffee and tea bar while I checked in. Piped in music mixed with luxurious quiet was a delightful escape. There are many amazing spa experiences to choose from. You can get lost in an aromatic massage (they are incredibly skilled), facials with options for sensitive skin and finish with manicure and pedicure. I loved it all. I truly enjoyed the pedicure which was saved for last. I was traveling, attending morning boot camps and working all hours; I was drained. By the time I was to sit for my pedicure - I was hangry! I stepped up and into the lush private booth with basin and perused The Spa menu of nosh and bevs. I chose two small plates, a tea AND Prosecco. Luxurious, best in business, best quality procured products, precision work by experienced technicians, massage therapists and estheticians. Delicious foods and drinks too? Sold! Thank you for always delivering amazing pampering services. When I am in Chicago, I am HERE! Matty Burke (Jules) Boston...
Read moreHad a less than ideal experience with this spa. I booked a 50 minute massage for my wife while she was in Chicago for a conference. The massage was fantastic, but afterwards they did not believe that it was already paid for and then charged somebody else’s gift card for a massage. The gift card did not have enough credit on it, so they tried to make her pay the difference. Throughout the entire ordeal, they did not believe a word she said. It was not until she called me to provide the last four digits of my credit card number that they finally believed her and let her leave. This was 30 minutes after she wanted to leave the spa and made her late for a meeting. No discount off the massage or any discount towards future services. Just a cold “ next time, make sure to let us know that it was pre-paid!”
Edit: the management reached out after the review and listened to our concerns and acted well...
