It’s a good place for those who want to customize their stir fry experience by adding your own sauces and flavors and ingredients. The inside is lovely and you are able to choose separate meat or non meat in addition to adding all the Veges and ingredients that you like. You also have an option to choose a pre listed ready made dish by the kitchen. But I would say it’s more fun to add your own stuff and sauces. The food came out cooked well and hot and the server brings it to your table once you leave your bowl and sauces at the counter. The veges in the buffet style area were not very (thus the 4 stars) fresh but the variety was good as well as the sauces. And you have to do a balancing act to put as much as you can into a small bowl. I think for the price of $17.99 per person they should give you much bigger bowls. You can add scrambled eggs or white cheese or extra bread to your dish for an extra $0.75 and they will add it for you when they cook your compilation. One piece of Roti bread comes w the $17.99 per person meal (the one you choose your own stuff). Overall a nice experience. The reason I give it 5/5 is solely because of the elevator that they have for those who are in wheelchairs or in pain (!!! Great job) but as for the food … not all the veges were fresh and the bowl you add your veges to is very small so you can’t fit much in it (so add the sauces separately in plastic containers they give you on the side) and for this it’s $17.99 which I think is a bit pricey but it does include 2 meats which they add at the end separately and it was a decent amount). So enjoy! The wait staff were very nice and sweet. The elevator is inside the restaurant as soon as you enter for about 3-4 steps, which is really fine for people who need assistance with wheelchairs, which I haven’t seen in most restaurants anywhere...
Read moreWe went for a late lunch around 3:30. Store was pretty slow, but the people there seemed to be enjoying the food. I was impressed with the amount of options they had for the make your own bowl.
I got the hellfire shrimp. It said it’d be spicy on the menu, but it was not. It was good but nothing special. Bamboo shoots in my food were very grainy which made them difficult to chew. I don’t think they’re supposed to be that hard to chew but it’s been a while since I had them last. My throat has been extremely dry since I ate my leftovers last night and it was dry after I ate at the restaurant. I think it’s because of how salty the sauce was. It didn’t taste too salty when I ate it though. Food came out very hot so it had been freshly cooked.
I felt the signage was confusing for the poke tacos. I asked for “a combo” because I thought it meant I’d get a taco with tuna and crab (based on the way it was written on the sign). My server came back with three tacos which contained a taco with just tuna, one with just crab, and one with both crab and tuna. It was good but for a college student who’s trying to stay on a budget it was a bit annoying.
Our server was friendly. When I asked about portion sizes and if it was big enough to share, I was told it’s enough for one person. While this is technically true, the bowls are pretty huge so I was only able to eat 1/3 of my food (I normally finish my food at restaurants). I felt like I was misled just to make the restaurant more money (my friend ordered a second bowl). Bowl could have easily been shared in my opinion. My friend’s food barely had any sauce so it was pretty dry. She had gotten one of the chicken bowls off of the menu.
Overall the food was fine but nothing special. Same with service. I’d recommend going...
Read moreWe stopped in for dinner with a group of 5 people on a Friday evening. We asked if my two daughters could share one bowl and were told that is not allowed. Then we said they will order one entree off the menu and split that and again we were told that’s not allowed. When we looked at the server like she was crazy, she said her manager doesn’t allow sharing food. That is the first time we have ever experienced not being able to order one entree in a restaurant in Chicago and be able to split it between two people. We have never heard of such a ridiculous rule. My daughters do not eat large meals, they weigh less than 100lbs and prefer to remain that way. In the end, all 5 of us ordered the Create your own bowl option and just like I said, my two daughters were not able to finish even half of their bowls so they had to take it home. The only silverware on the table was a fork for each person, so when I asked for a knife, the answer I received was “I’ll check if I can get one”. What kind of answer is that? The restaurant doesn’t have knives? The server never brought a knife and didn’t mention anything about it again. Also, they didn’t refill our water until we asked for more water.
Keep in mind this Create your own bowl option does not allow you to add your own protein, you have to tell the server which two proteins to add to your bowl, for example, Chicken, Sliced Sausage, Pork, or Sirloin Steak. You can add Shrimp, Scallops, Salmon or Ribeye steak for an additional cost.
With all of that said, the food was good but I won’t be taking my family to this restaurant again, nor will I meet any friends there for...
