I used to love coming here for a cocoa and chocolate but these past few months have not been stellar. For over four years I'd pop in and come here for cocoa and pleasing conversation but unfortunately this place is constantly hiring new people so my favorite staff members have long gone namely Mario who always had a kind word to say. Today I came in feeling pretty good and I was craving a hot chai and eclair so the guy in charge today told me the eclairs were available but not properly thawed out even though I got here at 6:39 PM. He was the only server here and the chai was excellent but my eclair was pretty frozen from the inside after I took a bite and the server took it from me realized I had taken a single bite and told me he could not place it in the oven now due to health regulations. After 4 years of eating here not one person mentioned that they had a points program or loyalty program. I must have visited three or more times a month and no one mentioned the rewards to me till I inquired 7 months ago. One server explained they are encouraged by the owner never to volunteer that information to customers so after 4 years of my loyalty and not knowing about loyalty points then being served a frozen eclair by a non apologetic and smug server I'll happily stop encouraging my clients to come here and I think I'll find another place to relax. If you take into consideration that these young servers also enjoy gossiping about customers behind behind their backs...like this one girl named Maeve whom I overheard while drinking my cocoa here then you're going to want to get chocolate to go not stay here. This place isn't friendly anymore nor is it welcoming and I was completely disrespected after being served as frozen eclair. If the owner cares maybe she'll consider refunding me for the eclair tonight but tonight prompted me to write a review especially since a server this past summer complained to me that business here was slow. It's slow because they mistreat customers here and I definitely feel awkward now so I really don't feel compelled to return to this location downtown. If you want to purchase chocolates as a gift this place is adequate but customer service here is lacking and unfriendly most of the time depending upon who works here on what day of the week. I'm a die hard chocoholic but the ambiance here is lacking if they can't be bothered to reheat a...
Read moreThis place is a rare gem. I came in for coffee and some sweets after copilot directed me here based on that criteria and this place is just so over the top incredible. They allowed me to very slowly browse every chocolate and when I was done they offered me a menu with unexpected breakfast offerings. I struggled to decide between the cranberry crepe or apple and Brie, so I asked what they suggested and went with the apple and Brie and let me tell you. It is heaven. So first the crepe, it’s so perfectly thin, I’m very judgey about my crepes and this one could not have been made any better. And the filling, the soft sweetness of the ales was balanced exquisitely by the rich savory flavor of the melted Brie. Together, it provided me one of the best and most memorable breakfasts of me like. We also tried the coffee and I had the dulce de leaches and just yum, so yum. I could drink it all day. I’m going to pick out a selection of macarons and chocolates before I go, and I’m so excited to try them because I know they just going to be heaven. I’ll be back for those cranberry crepes and my husband wants to check out how authentic the Belgium wales are since he spent some time there and can’t find them in America. Love love love this place, everything was over the top amazing. 20/10 Must...
Read moreWe got an extreme dark hot chocolate drink and a java milk hot chocolate drink. They were both very rich in chocolate and creamy / thick in consistency. I thought the extreme dark chocolate would be very bitter but it was not at all. I used to drink chocolate very often in the past but I hadn’t drunk it in years since I like foods & drinks with less and less sweetness as I grew up. The java milk hot chocolate wasn’t too sweet like I thought it would be but after a while we both needed some water.
The almond croissant was soft and crunchy. There are thin almond slices and powdered sugar on top, frangipane (almond cream filling) spread between the croissant slice, and chocolate between the layers of the croissant. The chocolate was a nice surprise. The Quiche Lorraine was probably pre-made and re-heated since it’s a small coffee shop. The crust is crunchy / hard and soft on the inside with onion and bacon. It’s a nice little savory pastry for the morning enough to fill you up for a couple of hours without being hungry.
Most customers came in to get drinks to go. You can also get chocolate / chocolate boxes here. The crêpes are made to order and I really want to try it,...
