This place is amazing starting with the staff. Manager Mario Madrigal is very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive to every customer. His professionalism along with passion for his job is apparent. Waitstaff Mike was so amazing and on point to listen to my food preferences and provided such a wonderful experience for my lunch. They have amazing food made by Head Chef Lupe and Sous Chef Juan. They made the best French onion soup with lots and lots of onions which I love, they make their own sourdough bread, and I got a grilled cheese on that which was done perfectly crispy with melted cheese on sourdough. The tomato bisque was fresh with with tasty and light croutons. I came here on a Friday afternoon and the ambience was perfect. It’s a Relaxed atmosphere with plenty of comfortable plush leather seating, booth seating for big crowds, and bar seating. There are plenty of charge stations for people to do work while sipping coffee or tea. Beautiful location and space and decor inside Merchandise Mart on the 2nd floor. There’s a coffee with baked goods section as well if you just want hit tea or coffee or hot chocolate. Marshall’s Landing is only open weekdays FYI. Definitely great for drinks, food, hot beverages. And don’t forget you get a beautiful view of the river off Franklin street and the bridge from Marshall’s Landing. I will return!

Wow! I can't believe I haven't stopped by before. If you work in the Loop or River North this is a can't miss Happy Hour spot. This place delivers in both food and drinks. Mario is the manager and leads this great crew! I had a Chicken Milanese that caught the envy of other patrons. It was crispy, delicious, and paired with an arugula salad 10/10. While I was eating I was surprised with a little spicy pasta that the chef whipped made up. I was so touched things like this show that the chef really enjoys working here and that they also appreciate their patrons. This salon will prompt return visits. When I was posted up at the bar I had a chance to speak with and have drinks made by Kathy, Igor and Felipe. We had great conversation and they were welcoming to all patrons. On top of being friendly and hospitable, Felipe & Igor make a mean old fashioned. Also highly recommended is the espresso martini topped with chocolate. *Chef's kiss* I took a walk around and they also have a private room called the founders room which is excellent for private events or corporate parties. Prices are really reasonable for the area and there are some good deals to be had during happy hour.

We had a work team dinner there, and while the food and drinks were good, the service was awful. Server told us 5 min before kitchen is closing to order so we were super rushed. After ordering, food came out at very different times. normally not the biggest problem, but it got to a point where food came out in 4 waves, first person finished eating before anyone else even got food! Then, 2 people ordered cauliflower risotto that just never came out. After nudging the waitress multiple times, they shared they lost the order, then they continue to reassure us it’ll come. Turns out they didn’t have any more cauliflower risotto this whole time! So they changed the order for my 2 colleagues without us agreeing, and we had it to go because we were going to miss our evening activity. (We can’t tell if their system had an issue, or waitress made a mistake, or chefs were confused. But overall communication between staff was poor, so they couldn’t clearly articulate to us what was going on) My 2 colleagues ate their to go dinners, and find out that one person got cauliflower risotto, one got a chicken dish… Overall, good food but super disappointed with service.

There's so much to love about this place that it pains me to take off 3 stars but I've been coming here for 2 hours every week to get work done between shifts I just can't take it anymore.

The goods: Fantastic food and drinks at reasonable prices. Comfortable setup and ideal location if you want a place to get a drink and a bite to eat.

The bads: Service can be really slow and the noise level gets loud. Bring your headphones if you want to get some work done.

The really bad: This place is just a mess when it comes to the setup. There's virtually no signage to tell you that its a private dining establishment and everyone walks up thinking its a public space. I witness countless people being approached during my weekly 2 hour stint here being told they need to take their outside food somewhere else because its not allowed. I would go nuts if I was a server here repeating the same thing throughout my shift. Lately, there's been private events which results in security walking through the place kicking everyone out at a moments notice just as they got settled in to get some work done. On the one hand, good for them that they're doing so well but maybe they need to change the configuration so people don't assume they can plop down and get work done. Or maybe, just close off the back part of the restaurant and have the event there. Also, and this is more to the management of the overall Merchandise Mart: Marshalls should NOT be allowed to kick people off the steps when they have a private event. If i'm not mistaken, those are a public space right? I mean, is the mayor holding the all these private events?

Bottom line: come for the food or a drink but don't get fooled into thinking all those couches and lounges are for you to get some work done. Or, just be ready to be booted at a moments notice cuz the mayor and his security detail are having ANOTHER private event...

Marshall’s Landing, perched atop the Grand Stair on the second floor of Chicago’s iconic Merchandise Mart, has become my go-to spot for both business lunches and special occasions. The ambiance is a perfect blend of chic and laid-back, offering stunning views of the Chicago River that never fail to impress.

The menu is a delightful array of American comfort foods, with each dish crafted to perfection. From the truffle butter and Parmesan popcorn to the fully loaded hamburger accompanied by spot-on skinny fries, every meal is a culinary delight. The avocado toast, topped with fresh herbs and sunflower seeds, is a personal favorite for a light yet satisfying option.

The service is consistently attentive, ensuring that whether I’m hosting a business meeting or enjoying a romantic dinner with my wife, the experience is seamless. The spacious layout, complemented by sleek upholstered chairs and deep booths, provides a comfortable setting for any occasion. The grand bar offers a selection of craft cocktails and beers that perfectly complement the menu.

For those looking to host private events, Marshall’s Landing offers a spectacular private dining room overlooking the river, making it an ideal venue for gatherings.

In summary, Marshall’s Landing is a versatile and inviting space that caters to a variety of dining experiences. Its combination of delectable food, exceptional service, and captivating views makes it a standout...
