There's so much to love about this place that it pains me to take off 3 stars but I've been coming here for 2 hours every week to get work done between shifts I just can't take it anymore.
The goods: Fantastic food and drinks at reasonable prices. Comfortable setup and ideal location if you want a place to get a drink and a bite to eat.
The bads: Service can be really slow and the noise level gets loud. Bring your headphones if you want to get some work done.
The really bad: This place is just a mess when it comes to the setup. There's virtually no signage to tell you that its a private dining establishment and everyone walks up thinking its a public space. I witness countless people being approached during my weekly 2 hour stint here being told they need to take their outside food somewhere else because its not allowed. I would go nuts if I was a server here repeating the same thing throughout my shift. Lately, there's been private events which results in security walking through the place kicking everyone out at a moments notice just as they got settled in to get some work done. On the one hand, good for them that they're doing so well but maybe they need to change the configuration so people don't assume they can plop down and get work done. Or maybe, just close off the back part of the restaurant and have the event there. Also, and this is more to the management of the overall Merchandise Mart: Marshalls should NOT be allowed to kick people off the steps when they have a private event. If i'm not mistaken, those are a public space right? I mean, is the mayor holding the all these private events?
Bottom line: come for the food or a drink but don't get fooled into thinking all those couches and lounges are for you to get some work done. Or, just be ready to be booted at a moments notice cuz the mayor and his security detail are having ANOTHER private event...

The ambiance is a perfect blend of chic and laid-back, offering stunning views of the Chicago River that never fail to impress.
The menu is a delightful array of American comfort foods, with each dish crafted to perfection. From the truffle butter and Parmesan popcorn to the fully loaded hamburger accompanied by spot-on skinny fries, every meal is a culinary delight. The avocado toast, topped with fresh herbs and sunflower seeds, is a personal favorite for a light yet satisfying option.

Read moreThis place is amazing starting with the staff. Manager Mario Madrigal is very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive to every customer. His professionalism along with passion for his job is apparent. Waitstaff Mike was so amazing and on point to listen to my food preferences and provided such a wonderful experience for my lunch. They have amazing food made by Head Chef Lupe and Sous Chef Juan. They made the best French onion soup with lots and lots of onions which I love, they make their own sourdough bread, and I got a grilled cheese on that which was done perfectly crispy with melted cheese on sourdough. The tomato bisque was fresh with with tasty and light croutons. I came here on a Friday afternoon and the ambience was perfect. It’s a Relaxed atmosphere with plenty of comfortable plush leather seating, booth seating for big crowds, and bar seating. There are plenty of charge stations for people to do work while sipping coffee or tea. Beautiful location and space and decor inside Merchandise Mart on the 2nd floor. There’s a coffee with baked goods section as well if you just want hit tea or coffee or hot chocolate. Marshall’s Landing is only open weekdays FYI. Definitely great for drinks, food, hot beverages. And don’t forget you get a beautiful view of the river off Franklin street and the bridge from Marshall’s Landing. I...
