We walked in to this place and got a table within 10 mins. The place is beautiful and well placed near the river walk. It is always crowded and reservation is recommended. Do not forget to ask for the perfect spot closest to the river. We were given a table that was pretty much in a tight space. We did not complain as we didn’t have a reservation but that place was uncomfortable because the next table was too close. My focus was mostly on not touching the girls sitting in the next table. It was that close. We ordered beers. Initially we were served the wrong beer. The waiter showed little interest in letting us know that it will be replaced. We asked and she said we could keep the wrong order too. The food was good. We had IPAs and a cocktail. They were amazing. I know the place was too crowded and it is hard to expect a little courtesy from the waiters. It is just a wish that despite being worn out coz of the work, they could still show some hospitality. The place was peaceful and pleasant but our experience wasn’t great coz of the waiters. I would rate their hospitality 2.9/5 especially because we were unattended for about 30 mins after being seated but the table next to us which was occupied after us was attended. I bet this won’t be the case all the time. It’s a weekend and the workers are busy running around. Everything else was good here! Would try it again on...
Read moreTiny Tapp is a great riverside bar/cafe on the Chicago riverwalk.
A group of us recently visited on a Saturday night — to set the scene, the riverwalk was poppin, tons of people out and about, and generally just enjoying a summer evening!
We went looking for a central spot to meet up, hang out, have a drink, and enjoy the river — enter Tiny Tapp. There are tons of tables, both next to the river and a little ways up… but be prepared for a wait. The host was happy to add us to the automated waiting list (30 min estimate and 20 min reality for reference), and we were seated immediately after that.
There’s a good selection of drinks, but the plastic cups give a… college bar vibe. Take that as you will! The servers are super friendly, but can get swamped — be prepared to wait a while and maybe order multiple drinks at once if you’re… especially thirsty. Another asterisk, it can get super loud if you’re in the middle of the table clumps, just be prepared for that!
Overall, I’d still recommend Tiny Tapp! It’s great for 20-somethings visiting town, but I think it has plenty to offer for other...
Read moreI recently visited Tiny Tapp Restaurant as an out of town patron and had an incredibly disappointing and disheartening experience. Despite arriving at a reasonable time and seeing other patrons being promptly seated and served, I was inexplicably ignored. As a black patron, it was hard not to feel that my race played a role in the poor treatment I received.
I waited for an extended period without being acknowledged, while staff attended to other customers who arrived after me. This blatant disregard for my presence was both shocking and unacceptable. I attempted to get the attention of the waitstaff multiple times, only to be met with indifference.
Such behavior is not only unprofessional but also discriminatory. It is disheartening to see this kind of treatment in this day and age. I hope the management takes serious steps to address this issue and ensure that all customers are treated with the respect and service they deserve.
Until then, I cannot recommend Tiny Tapp Restaurant to anyone and will not be returning. Discrimination has no place in the...
