Made a reservation for 2 here, and the experience was unparalleled to other finer restaurants I've been to. Upon entering, we were greeted and had no issues with our reservation. They took our coats so we wouldn't have a packed table with our belongings, so that was a nice addition.
Once seated, our server was incredibly chill and lively. It is nice to have a server who actually looks like he enjoys working there and gave us some recommendations on the menu. We ordered the Smoked Swordfish Dip and Short Rib Tacos for starters, and I was indeed surprised.
As someone who never had Short ribs in general, I was delighted with the new taste. The meat was nicely made and cooked through. As for the Swordfish Dip, it was definitely something I was skeptical about since I don't like seafood, but the smokiness the fish had made it taste not too fishy. I would recommend it if you like fish but personally not my cup of tea.
For the main course, I had the 14oz Ribeye cooked Medium-Well, and it was the best steak I've had at a restaurant. It was beautifully seasoned, and it had a nice char to it. Despite the temperature, it wasn't difficult to cut into. It was easy to cut, and it didn't shake the table as some people like to tease others about that temperature of steak. The person I was with ordered the scallops and pork belly, and that looked equally as good, too. The cheese cake was good as well, but if anything is a little too sweet for my palate. Though I enjoyed the lemon flavor it had, which was something I enjoyed the most about it. The only thing is the slice is quite small, so if you are sharing, know your cut isn't the biggest.
The atmosphere and service were the best I've seen yet. The restaurant is beautifully maintained and clean, and all staff is very respectful. The ambient lighting and music really set the tone for our stay. It was quiet throughout the evening, and I honestly have no complaints. Definitely would come here again as a date night or to hang out with a friend for dinner. Would recommend it if you enjoy...
Read moreWe dine out a lot and we really wish we could have given a higher overall rating but there were enough situations that we experienced that prompted this score. Service: The hostess was accommodating by letting us change the our table since it was relatively early but she and her colleagues could have cracked a smile or warm greeting upon arrival to make us feel welcomed. Our waitress was very knowledgable but was trying to cover other tables while also bringing dishes, silverware and clearing dirty dishes. We never had our water replenished and it was just a hassle trying to find her. There should have been wait staff to help her. We tried ordering a bottle of wine to start but they were out of the first two bottles we requested. We've never had that happen in a nice restaurant before. Someone forgot to reorder or they could have gone to Binny's down the road. Food: Our choices were ok but I really expecting some stand out dishes. It was obvious the entrees sat longer than they should have because they were lukewarm. One entree (chicken) seemed sparse for the price and the carrots were rock hard. The desserts were fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The restaurant should also update the pricing online to align with the actual menu in the restaurant. Atmosphere: Toro is very large with a well appointed interior. However, they cracked up the volume on the music midway through our meal just before a very sparsely dressed fire performer appeared which was downright tacky given the nice surroundings. We would have preferred some piano music instead of having to see this distracting display. The music was never turned down making conversation challenging and by then we were ready to check out. Overall, We wished it was a more seamless experience especially for...
Read moreI’m in the industry so I understand why n when a waiter isn’t being attentive, but this was one of thee worst waiters I’ve ever had in my 33 years of living.
First and most important thing is I asked for water after already waiting 10-12 minutes, the waiter didn’t bring me some water u til we were half done with the starter. And when he came to the table, he only put water in my cup and not in fiancé’s cup, I asked him “do you not see 2 people at the table sir” and with condescending look, he pour water in her cup. It was then at about 9:45 ish that he came back to our table and told us we had to order food because the kitchen was about to close,
I have been in the industry for going on 15years now and I’ve never heard of restaurants that takes 10pm reservations for dinner, having a a kitchen that closes at 10pm.
The food was burnt, not charred, maybe the head chef was off on Friday or the kitchen was having a bad night dealing with terrible waiter like we had all night.
The drink were nasty, the waiter said the jalapeño margarita would be sweet and not spicy… the drink was not sweet and the pepper taste was strong.
A manager came and swapped out the drinks after I told him they I didn’t like the drinks, and the waiter only brought back 1 drink, when the manager came to check, I told him the waiter only sent one drink when we ordered 2, the manager sent us the other drink.
Highlight of the night was leaving. I spent 180 bucks on burnt food and terrible service.
I ask myself, why would I ever come back to place that disregarded my fiancé in my face TWICE, terrible food and terrible service. Who man would put another woman through this, and what woman would want to...
