Overall I was not satisfied with my experience. Ill give one star for the cider selection being very impressive and one star for the food being good; not exceptional or extraordinary, but is in line with food I could get at another local quality bar. Overall, I found it to be extremely disorganized. Our waiter seemed out of sorts and oblivious to the majorty of the tables in his section. I also found the staff members I interacted with to be dissmissive and abrasive. I asked the host several times for approximate wait times and he was very reluctant to do so and VERY dissmissive...gave us a vibe of "It's a privelage to be here and you will sit here and wait until I say you're lucky enough to finally get a table". Could've cared less and was very unresponsive. We then asked a manager about the wait time and she told us, literally, " you need to understand that we are a busy restaurant and you are not our only priority". Uhhh....excuse you? Had the two other people in our party not wanted to eat here so badly we would've walked out right there. We approached her politely to try and understand why its been 45 minutes and we haven't been sat with 2 open tables being available but apparently "reserved". A word of advice from someone who has served/bartended for coming up on 9 years now and has taken sections the size of this restaurant, maybe YOU need to understand that if you're going to be this busy and in demand that there needs to be a maximum wait time placed on reservations; there was multiple tables that walked out of the restaurant based on this matter for the entire hour you made my party wait at the bar while 2 tables were available to seat us at. Not to mention by the time we FINALLY got sat and were done, the one table was still empty, I wonder if they ever came. You let a good 5-6 parties walk out of your restaurant for 1 table? Interesting business approach. Also the attitude was very unwarranted. We came to enjoy good food and cider not to be talked down to and parented. You may have your gluten free crowd and general cider enthusiats cornered into coming here but you are not the only place in town. Not that many of the staff members would care whether people are there or not anyway. Overall, it seems like a disorganized mess with a bunch of entitled hipsters with bad attitudes running the place and a great selection of cider. Maybe I just went on an off night, I'm not sure but overall for the price they charge the food was standard and the service/hospitality was very...
Read moreThis place was just as good as I had hoped for, if not better. Last night was my first time visiting. I found this restaurant/pub from google when searching for a cider bar. There are an overwhelming amount of ciders to choose from that come from all different countries. The pictures online are actual representations of what you get in front of you, unlike most restaurants. (I ordered the French soup because of the picture of it on their website and it was amazing.) I went there with my dad and my husband; we tried two types of cheese, one of them was a gouda, and unfortunately I don't remember the name of the other, but they were both awesome. very sharp. We also got the eggplant, I didn't like eggplant until I tried theirs! Ive never had eggplant prepared so perfectly, it almost tasted as if I were eating steak. My dad ordered the Döner kabob, which was amazing, I ordered the melt which was also amazing, and my husband ordered the fish and chips; which, unfortunately was a little mediocre but we would like to believe that is only because it didn't come with Tatar sauce, which is like serving French fries without ketchup or salt. Moving on, we last but not least, tried the cider donuts. WOW, they were just the cherry on top of it all, fantastic dessert. I would HIGHLY recommend this place, and I will definitely be driving the hour long trip to...
Read moreSurprisingly amazing food! My daughter (5) and I tried The Watchman for lunch because it was close to our hotel and we wanted something quick to eat. At first glance the small menu doesn’t look promising, but the food was great quality and delicious! We ordered the Bavarian Pretzel, the Chicken Salad Sandwich, and the Turkey Sandwich. The Bavarian pretzel was great, but in my opinion it is not a true Bavarian pretzel. The dough was more light and fluffy than a Bavarian pretzel. With that said, I would still order it again because it was great. Definitely a crowd pleaser and something for even the pickiest of eaters. The Chicken Salad Sandwich was shockingly wonderful. 1. I’m not a curry fan. 2. I don’t like fruit in chicken salad. BUT, this was AMAZING, would order again as well! Lastly, I got the Turkey Sandwich for my 5 year old. The sandwich had 2 HUGE pieces of turkey and a nice sized piece of mozzarella. If ordering for a kid you could always order it plain (just turkey and cheese) although my 5 year old liked it as is. Again, I would not hesitate to order this sandwich the next time we visit. If you’re in the area and are looking for a quick place to stop and have a meal give it a try! It’s definitely more memorable and of better quality than the other sandwich shops...
